What our customers ask about Luzon Island Tours & Trips
What Are Some Hidden Gem Routes That Travelers Love?
There's some really interesting routes that let you see a different side of Luzon. The Cordillera Rice Terraces Trail from Banaue to Batad is amazing for hikers you get to walk through villages and see how they've been growing rice for generations. The Ifugao Villages Trek is particularly special taking you to that famous Banaue view deck and out to Tappiyah falls. History buffs really enjoy the Spanish Colonial Trail between Vigan and Paoay with all its old architecture while nature lovers head for Mount Pinatubo where you can take a 4WD ride to the start then hike up to this incredible crater lake.
What Local Foods Should You Really Try in Luzon?
The food scene in Luzon is incredibly diverse with each region having its own specialties. In Ilocos you've got to try longganisa these amazing garlicky sausages that are perfect for breakfast and bagnet which is this incredibly crispy pork belly. Over in Pampanga sisig is the go-to bar food made with chopped pork ears and cheeks served sizzling hot. Don't miss the buko pie either it's this wonderful coconut dessert you'll find all over. When you're on the Northern Philippines Highlights tour make sure to try pinikipan a local chicken dish that's really popular in Banaue.
Which Cultural Experiences Can Visitors Actually Take Part In?
You can really immerse yourself in some fascinating cultural practices around Luzon. Up in Mountain Province you can learn traditional weaving from Ifugao women who'll show you how to use these incredible backstrap looms right in their villages. Over in Sagada the Hanging Coffins are pretty remarkable and you can learn all about this ancient burial tradition especially on that 4-day Sagada tour. Vigan offers this wonderful experience of riding in a kalesa through its old streets it's such a great way to feel the city's colonial history.
Where Are the Less Crowded But Culturally Rich Spots?
There's some incredible places in Luzon that don't get the crowds but are absolutely worth visiting. Hundred Islands National Park in Pangasinan is perfect for kayaking and snorkeling around these beautiful limestone islands. The Callao Caves in Cagayan are stunning with all their formations really good for both casual explorers and serious cavers. Then there's Baler in Aurora which has this amazing mix of history and surf culture it's one of those places where you can experience both heritage and adventure without the usual tourist crowds.
