What people love about Northern Brazil Tours
- Amazon Jungle - 4 Days
The Amazon jungle tour was amazing! It was an experience of a lifetime. This was my first time to Brazil. The service from star to finish was great and can accommodate vegan/vegetarian meals. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you for a great tour.
- Amazon Rainforest Sustainable Experience
Organization of and the Tour itself were excellent! I can highly recommend this Tour!
- Amazon Boat Cruise - 3 Days
I was hesitant to book this trip online since anyone can make an exciting webpage. I made a random choice on Amazon Amazing Tours and Karma was on my side. Incredible staff. Leo (who I later learned is the owner) initiated email contact. He was always an email away providing fast answers to our questions before, during and after the trip. Our guide, Anailson, a Manaus native with perfect English and extensive knowledge of the area. Captain Francisco’s boat was very clean, comfortable, spacious, and relaxing. Perfect remedy for anyone that wants to forget about work and that virus. Three days were a perfect combination of relaxation and activities. Fishing for piranhas, pink dolphins, seeing slots and swimming Rio Negro — no words can fully describe the excitement, the beauty and discovery that Amazon Amazing Tours provided in just three days.
What our customers ask about Northern Brazil Tours & Trips
What are the must-see highlights of Northern Brazil's Amazon region?
Northern Brazil's Amazon presents natural phenomena that define the region such as the "Meeting of the Waters" near Manaus. Here the dark Rio Negro and light Rio Solimoes flow side by side for miles creating a distinct two-toned river. The Anavilhanas archipelago spreads across more than 1000 islands and serves as home to pink river dolphins and numerous bird species. Travelers often base themselves at locations like the Amazon Eco Park Lodge to explore the monkey forest and visit wildlife rehabilitation centers. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "Absolutely loved the excursions in small boats throughout the trip - I wasn't expecting to see a great deal of wildlife but was happily surprised."
When is the best time to visit Northern Brazil's Amazon region?
Your experience in Northern Brazil's Amazon will differ significantly between the wet season (December-May) and dry season (June-November). Those looking to explore Alter do Chao's white-sand beaches should plan their visit during the low-water season from late June. The period from February to July opens up opportunities to navigate the "Enchanted Forest" by canoe when water levels peak. According to a TourRadar traveler review: "The time on Marajo island was excellent though it's a shame we couldn't have slightly more time there instead of having to leave when it was still dark."
What types of accommodation can I expect on a general tour in Northern Brazil?
The Amazon region provides accommodations ranging from riverside lodges to traditional river boats. The Anavilhanas Lodge offers cottages on wooden stilts complete with air conditioning and private balconies overlooking the forest. At Amazon Eco Park Lodge guests stay in bungalows that blend modern comfort with natural surroundings. Some travelers opt for more rustic experiences sleeping in hammocks aboard river boats. One TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The private boat was excellent and sleeping in hammocks for a few days was a great experience and one I'll remember for a long time."
What wildlife might I encounter during a general tour in Northern Brazil's Amazon?
The region's biodiversity shows itself through frequent sightings of pink river dolphins in the Rio Negro particularly from December to March. Visitors regularly spot various monkey species swinging through the canopy caimans during night tours and numerous bird species including macaws and the distinctive hoatzin bird known for its wing claws. Marajo Island provides opportunities to see water buffalos and wetland species. As one TourRadar traveler commented: "I wasn't expecting to see a great deal of wildlife but was happily surprised. The guide on the private boat was excellent really good on walks and also on boat excursions."
How many days should I plan for a general tour in Northern Brazil's Amazon?
Tours typically span 4 to 15 days. Popular options include 4-5 day stays at established lodges like Amazon Eco Park or Anavilhanas Lodge. More extensive 14-day river journeys connect major cities like Belem and Manaus. A TourRadar traveler commented: "The time on Marajo island was excellent though we could have used slightly more time there" suggesting longer trips offer a more complete experience of both wildlife viewing and cultural activities.
