Botswana Safari Tour Reviews
- 4-Day Okavango Delta & Boteti River Tented Safari
The safari to Moremi shoiuld start earlier as by the time we got there, most of the predators were under the tree/bushes sleeping and are impossible to find. Our driver did try very hard to find them. Also for us old people, it is necessary to get back By 4.00pm.
What our customers ask about Botswana Safari Tours
What are the best times of year for wildlife viewing in Botswana's major safari destinations?
Winter months from June to September offer excellent wildlife viewing across Botswana's national parks and reserves. During this dry period Chobe National Park becomes home to about 35,000 elephants gathering near the Chobe River. The flooded Okavango Delta draws diverse wildlife to its waterways and islands. A TourRadar traveler described their July experience: "Seeing the animals so close and so many. Seeing a family of elephants playing in the mud. An elephant came to our camp - it was incredible!"
What types of accommodation experiences are available on Botswana safaris?
Accommodations range from basic to luxurious across Botswana's safari regions. Thamo Telele Lodge near Maun offers elevated safari tents with modern amenities like air conditioning and private bathrooms. In Moremi Game Reserve mobile camping provides dome tents with proper beds. The Okavango Delta features houseboats with private cabins and viewing decks. As one guest noted: "The houseboat and camping were an adventure. Loved the trip in the small boat off the house boat."
What cultural experiences are available alongside wildlife viewing in Botswana?
Beyond wildlife visits to the Tsodilo Hills showcase over 4,000 San Bushmen rock paintings dating back 24,000 years. Local villages like Xobe welcome visitors to see traditional dances and meet craftspeople. One guest highlighted: "The cultural show at Kwalape and meeting local people was a highlight of our trip."
How do seasonal changes affect safari experiences in Botswana?
The dry season (May-October) concentrates wildlife around water sources like Chobe River and Okavango Delta. Wet months (November-April) bring green landscapes and excellent bird watching in areas like Moremi Game Reserve. A traveler noted: "Always keep your eyes open for wildlife - you never know when it will appear - elephants in particular don't like to stay within the confines of Game Reserves!"
How does transportation work between different safari locations in Botswana?
Custom 4WD vehicles handle game drives and transfers between sites. The drive from Maun to Moremi Game Reserve takes several hours on varied terrain. Delta areas use motorboats and mokoros for water transport. A guest shared: "There are a couple of days which are mainly spent travelling in a minibus but you get to see a lot of the countryside and how people live."
