What people love about Christmas & New Year Tours in Finland
- Finnish Wilderness Week
The Finnish wilderness week was sensational from start to ‘Finnish’ . Brilliant staff at Basecamp, lovely clean facilities, great food. Activities were fun, great balance between activities and free time that allowed opportunity to just relax in the spa& sauna or go out exploring the wilderness. Would recommend this to anyone love love loved it !!!

- Aurora & Glass Igloo Explorer - 5 Days
I have no complaint except for one incident, which was taken care of. The reason I'm sharing it is so it doesn't happen to the next customer. We were scheduled for a 2h husky safari from 14:00-16:30. From your office we we're scheduled for a transfer at 16:45 to Arctic Snow Hotel. Their wasn't enough time between so we were without a transfer to our hotel. We called ahead but they didn't wait. Our sweet tour guide drove us to the hotel and helped us arrange a new dinner reservations for a later time. Other then that everything was great.

What unique dining experiences are offered during Christmas & New Year in Finland?
Finland's holiday season brings a range of traditional feasts that showcase regional specialties. Guests can enjoy Lappish dishes like reindeer Arctic fish and wild berries. Hotels such as Santa's Hotel Tunturi organize Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve galas that blend local traditions with festive celebrations. The dining options extend beyond conventional restaurants with meals served in ice restaurants and around wilderness campfires. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The Christmas Eve dinner at Santa Claus Hotel was outstanding - traditional Finnish dishes and festive atmosphere made it truly special."
What kind of weather should I expect during Christmas & New Year in Finland?
Winter temperatures in Finnish Lapland generally range from -5°C to -25°C with occasional dips to -30°C. Locations like Saariselkä and Rovaniemi experience limited daylight during winter months typically only 2-4 hours of twilight per day. The snow-blanketed landscape and Northern Lights create distinct winter conditions. What are the best activities included in Finland Christmas & New Year tours?
Winter activities in Finland span from reindeer sledding at farms near Rovaniemi to husky safaris through snowy forests in Saariselkä. Visitors can join snowmobile trips across frozen lakes and explore Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi. The Santa Claus Hotel provides special Christmas programs while locations like the Wilderness Inari hotel serve as bases for Northern Lights viewing. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The husky sledding was a great experience - the owners of the husky farm, Marika and Lauri without a doubt love their dogs and look after them so well. The scenery was beautiful, so much so that I had to pinch myself a couple of times."
When is the best time to see the Northern Lights during the Christmas & New Year period?
Northern Lights viewing peaks between 9 PM and 1 AM when darkness reaches its maximum. Tour operators in Inari and Saariselkä arrange dedicated aurora excursions during these optimal hours.
