Peru Jungle Tour Reviews
- The Inca Journey
My Peru trip was my first time traveling with G. I just got back and it's been a very pleasant experience. The trip was very well planned and efficiently organized, our group size was just right (14 people of various age groups) and we became like a big family by the end of the trip. The CEOs were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and helped us learn quite a bit about the history and culture of the various areas we visited. The modes of transportation were comfortable and convenient. The only public transport during the trip was flights between cities and the train ride from/to Aguas Calientes - Machu Pichu (which by the way is extremely comfortable, very scenic with beverage/snack service). At other times we were in private vans/minibuses. Accommodations were basic but clean and safe and the only complaint I have is about lack of hot water in a couple of our hotels in smaller towns/villages. I was traveling solo (a girl) and felt protected and looked after at all times. Overall I will recommend G-Adventures to everyone looking to do an adventurous trip with a smaller tour size and I will definitely consider booking with them in the future.
- Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu 4D/3N (Biking, Zip-Line & Rafting)
We went doing the Inca Jungle Adventure with this package with a lot of activities. We were 4 doing it with another couple. The guide managed to show us each site and explain us many things. It’s better if you are in condition for this trek. We passed by many villages and discovered the local culture. We had almost forgotten Machu Picchu when we arrived on spot. After that what I liked the most was water rafting and zip lining. I truly recommend this trek !
- 7-Day Inca Jungle Trek Including Biking, Inca trail, Rafting, Zipline
The service during the Inca Jungle Trail 7days was truly extraordinary. Everything was well organized from the moment we arrived in Cusco till we departed from the airport. Our tour guide, Rodrigo was spectacular. He explained the schedule in detail and showed great concerns for our safety. He made sure to create a structure with punctuality, yet he thought to make it as comfortable for us as possible. Rodrigo conveys information through illustrations, activities and a lot of humor which made the whole experience worth remembering. An important asset in a tour guide is the art of patience. Rodrigo has lots of it! During every hardship and struggle we faced, he always kept calm and positive. Not to mention, he’s a great photographer!.Great tour! We all were pleased with this tour and experience in Peru.
What our customers ask about Jungle Tours in Peru
When is the best time to go Jungle Trekking in Peru?
The dry season from April through October provides the most favorable conditions for jungle trekking in Peru with clearer trails and better chances to see wildlife. In the Tambopata National Reserve near Puerto Maldonado the weather from May to October creates ideal trekking conditions. The Amazon maintains warm humid conditions year-round with temperatures ranging from 25-35°C at locations like Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion lodge. One TourRadar traveler who visited in December noted: "I knew I would be either outside or in open air screened buildings so I jumped at the chance. The cool showers don't really matter when it is so hot."
What kind of wildlife can I expect to see during a Peru Jungle Trek?
The Amazon regions of Peru host remarkable biodiversity. The Tambopata Reserve alone is home to over 100 mammal species and 600 bird species. Common sightings include capybaras monkeys toucans and macaws. Visitors to Iquitos may spot pink river dolphins. One TourRadar traveler recounted: "Brian our guide was very helpful and spotted so much wildlife including capybaras caimans monkeys tarantulas a scorpion frogs sloths all types of parrots kingfishers and lizards." The Paradise Lodge area along the Madre de Dios River is particularly good for wildlife viewing especially during dawn and dusk.
What unique activities are available during jungle treks?
Beyond standard hiking trails Peru's jungle experiences include night caiman watching piranha fishing and elevated canopy walks. Amazon Planet lodge features 15-meter observation platforms for treetop views. As one TourRadar traveler shared: "I loved the monkeys climbing on me on Monkey Island and the night paddle into the lagoon. The canopy walkway gives you a completely different perspective of the rainforest." Tours often incorporate visits to native communities and lessons about medicinal plants.
How are the guides on Peru jungle treks?
The guides bring deep local knowledge of rainforest ecosystems and wildlife. Locations like Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion employ multilingual naturalist guides from nearby communities. A satisfied TourRadar traveler reported: "I had the best guide named Segundo. He is so knowledgeable in the Amazon rainforest knows about every plant mushroom or animal we have seen. I've always felt safe around him and he is so friendly."
What's included in typical meals during jungle treks?
The food focuses on fresh Amazonian ingredients prepared using local cooking methods. Maniti Eco-Lodge serves three daily meals featuring regional fish tropical fruits and locally grown vegetables. According to one TourRadar traveler: "The food was amazing. Everything was so fresh and tasty. I have never had fish so tender simply seasoned and free of bones. I never realized how good pineapple could be when it is that fresh." Most locations can accommodate special diets when notified in advance.
