What people love about Island Hopping Tours in Thailand
- Thailand Island Hopping – West Coast
This was my first time in Asia and therefore I thought that it might be a good idea to book a tour so that I didn't have to travel by myself and of course having a knowledgeable guide wouldn't hurt either. I have to say that we were quite unlucky with the weather since it was raining almost every day but we were a small group of very cool people which made the tour a nice experience anyway. The tour itself was well organised, the tour guide very friendly and the accommodations were really good. But overall I have to say that the value for money is not as high as I expected. Besides a few breakfasts, accommodations, transports there was only one single activity included in the tour price. Considering the generally low prices in Thailand this tour turned out to be way to expensive for what it is. We had a lot of free time to explore ourselves because no activities were included, of course at our own expenses exactly like all the meals. The guide was friendly and he answered our questions when we asked him some but to be honest. I often didn't find him really helpful. Most of the time we arrived at the new destination and after giving us the key to our room he more or less disappeared and left us on our own without giving us a brief insight of possible activities to do and where to book them. That was a little bit disappointing for me. On Koh Pangan we were staying in a very remote, private resort, which was great itself but the weather was bad and besides watching tv, eating and having a massage there was absolutely nothing to do and no possibility to get near a town in a reasonable amount of time. We saw nothing of the island but a private beach of a resort who offered no activity at all! And finally on Koh Tao we arrived only in the afternoon of the first day, the 2nd day was a full day snorkelling exkursion (which was good) and the 3rd day we left at 13.30h in the afternoon. So it is nice to say that we have time to explore ourselves but with a planning like that were people only get halft days there is no way you can book a trip or even do diving on an island that is famous for. That was the most disappointing part for me. So to sum it up I wouldn't recommend this tour. I was lucky to have at least an amazing group, but the tour itself is way to expensive with a not well thought-out itinerary. Plan the island hopping on your own and you will not only save money but be able to actually do activities you like and not be disappointed because you can't do them cause of the strange itinerary. I wouldn't do this tour again.
- Thailand Beaches: Bangkok to Ko Samui
We loved snorkelling and visiting these beach resorts. We were in a group who were all lovely and we had the most amazing adventure - thank you! It gave us the confidence to then continue our month long trip around Thailand on our own.
- Thailand Island Hopper 16 Day Group Tour | ULTIMATE
The tour was really amazing. We saw the many faces of Thailand and interacted with more locals than I could have imagined. The food, the group and the stops were all part of the overall great experience. Due to the Corona Virus it was a little difficult to find places to party, but we still got a few really nice party nights in. Obviously we have to thank our boss Yui for being an amazing leader and a trustworthy friend. So if you wanna see Thailand, go for it, cause this right here is a great choice
What our customers ask about Island Hopping Tours & Trips in Thailand
When is the best time to go island hopping in Thailand?
Plan your Thailand island hopping adventure between November and April. During these months the dry season brings calm waters and clear conditions for snorkeling. The Andaman Sea islands including Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta offer their best conditions during this period. For the Gulf islands such as Koh Tao and Koh Samui February to September works better. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The weather was perfect for our island adventure with clear waters perfect for snorkeling and calm seas for boat trips."
What activities are typically included in island hopping tours?
Thailand island hopping tours pack in plenty of water and land activities. You'll spend time snorkeling among tropical fish exploring coral reefs and taking longtail boat trips between islands. The tours often include hiking such as the 343-step climb on Koh Phi Phi beach time at locations like Railay Beach in Krabi and visits to local villages. Many tours stop at well-known spots like Emerald Cave on Koh Mook and James Bond Island in Phang Nga Bay. Seven Seas Hotel in Koh Tao and Sivalai Beach Resort on Koh Mook serve as convenient bases for these activities.
What's the best way to travel between Thai islands?
Speedboats and ferries connect the Thai islands with journey times ranging from 1-3 hours depending on your route. The Phuket to Koh Phi Phi ferry takes about 2 hours while Koh Tao to Koh Phangan is roughly 1 hour by speedboat. A TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The boat transfers were well-organized and comfortable with amazing views along the way."
What type of accommodation can I expect on the islands?
Thai islands offer accommodations for every taste from beachfront resorts to boutique hotels and traditional bungalows. You'll find options like Koh Mook Sivalai Beach Resort with its traditional Thai-style rooms and Paradise Pearl Resort on Phi Phi Don located right on the beach. As one TourRadar traveler commented: "The accommodations exceeded our expectations with fantastic locations right on the beach and great amenities."
What's the best way to experience local culture while island hopping?
Local culture comes alive in the fishing villages of Koh Yao Noi through cooking classes local markets and homestay opportunities. Places like Ban Kao Lam Community on Koh Lanta let visitors connect with island traditions and daily life. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The homestay experience on Koh Pitak gave us a real insight into local island life and amazing authentic Thai food."
