What people love about Mexico Tours in February
- Classic Mexico Adventure
Excellent guides. Should prepare travellers that the local tours accept only cash payments, I almost didn't have enough because I had thought they could be paid by card.
- Mexico Unplugged (from Mexico City to Isla Cozumel)
The tour (13 of us toured) was well-organized, chocked full of interesting place an individual would never find on his/her own. Culturally enlightening. Plus lots of fun things (swimming in underground cave), without hordes of tourists around you. Our tour guide was Ornesto. He was organized, knowledgeable, and sensitive to everyone's one's needs and interests. Moreover, he seemed to enjoy (thoroughly) interacting personally with everyone in the group, and helped to form us into a real, vibrant community. We had a lot of laughs together. His communication and social skills are simply superb (very gifted). We had 5 teachers in the group, an elementary principal, an elementary teacher, a pre-college music professor, a performing music (and former teacher), nurse, CEO secretary, independent business woman, and some working people. I myself am a university professor. Our ages ranged from 29 to 70. Really interesting people who meshed together.
- Wonders of the Maya
This was an excellent tour. It was well organized, well curated with many large and small magical moments that made it special. Our tour guide, Wilberth and our driver Juan were fantastically knowledgeable about the area, the history, the natural wildlife, the food and the tour experience. They had so much patience when I went off to take pictures of something-or-other. I lucked out with a very small tour, so I came back feeling like I had a greater knowledge and appreciation for the Mayans, their history and the SE region of Mexico than I think I would if I had been in a much larger group. The hotels we stayed at were a really nice variety - some modern, some quaint and Spanish-influenced, all of them comfortable, clean and welcoming. FYI: Budget for about 150 pesos per meal (lunch and dinner - not including tip), although between the hearty breakfast buffets and the lunches, I only had very light dinners. All the hotels will give you between 700 mL and 1 L of bottled water gratis in your room, which is wonderful when you're doing a lot of climbing. So, if you like old ruins creeping out from the encroaching jungle; if you like swimming in places that are not part of tourists' beaches; if you like to be constantly moving and learning new things; if you're tired of your Stairmaster and want to try climbing Mayan pyramids because of the fantastic view; then maybe this is the right tour for you!
