7 Days in Argentina & Brazil, incl. Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro
This week-long South American adventure connects Buenos Aires' Plaza de Mayo, magnificent Iguazu Falls, and Rio's Christ the Redeemer. Package includes 6 nights' accommodation, domestic flights, and expert guided tours.
- Days 1-2
Buenos Aires, Argentina
- Days 3-4
Iguazu Falls
Book a morning flight to Iguazu. You'll need about 2 hours to get from downtown Buenos Aires to the airport. Take your time to see both sides of the falls. The Brazilian side gives you wide open views while the Argentine side lets you walk right up to the water. A recent visitor shared: "The Argentine side's Devil's Throat walkway was incredible but gets very crowded by 11 AM - go first thing in the morning and bring a raincoat!" The boat ride to the bottom of the falls costs $90 but most visitors say it's worth it. You'll need a change of clothes and waterproof protection for your camera. If you're interested in aerial views, book a morning helicopter tour when visibility is best.
- Days 5-7
Rio de Janeiro
After a 2-hour flight to Rio, spend your first afternoon at Sugarloaf Mountain. Get there by 4 PM to catch sunset without long lines. Visit Christ the Redeemer early the next morning on the 8 AM cable car to beat the crowds. One traveler noted: "The Santa Teresa neighborhood felt authentic but the hills are steep - take an Uber up and walk down through the colorful Selaron Steps." Spend your last day at Copacabana or Ipanema beaches. Look for the marked swimming areas as the waves can get rough. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for $5-10.
7 Day Brazil & Argentina Itinerary, incl. Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires
This dual-country expedition showcases Brazil and Argentina's finest sites, from Corcovado Mountain to Recoleta Cemetery. View Christ the Redeemer, Teatro Colón, and immerse in South American culture. Total costs around $1,900, including guided tours and daily breakfast.
- Days 1-3
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Start your South American journey in Rio. Get settled on your first evening in Copacabana a safe neighborhood that puts you right by the beach. Start Day 2 with an early visit to Corcovado Mountain. Get there by 8 AM to avoid crowds and heat. The cog-wheel train through Tijuca Forest takes about 20 minutes. Bring good walking shoes since the viewing platform can get slippery. Make the most of your free day in Rio with a morning trip to Sugar Loaf Mountain. The first cable car leaves at 8:30 AM. Spend your afternoon exploring the artsy Santa Teresa district. According to one traveler: "Taking the historic yellow tram through Santa Teresa's winding streets was a highlight - go around 3 PM when the lunch crowds have cleared but before rush hour."
- Day 4
Transfer to Buenos Aires
- Days 5-7
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Start your first full day with the city highlights. Visit Plaza de Mayo early to see the city come alive then explore colorful La Boca. Stay in the main tourist area of Caminito and leave before 5 PM for safety. A recent visitor noted: "The Recoleta Cemetery tour was fascinating - go at 2 PM when the light makes for stunning photos between the mausoleums." Spend Day 6 experiencing local culture. Try a morning cooking class to learn empanada-making or take a trip to the Tigre Delta just 45 minutes by train from Retiro station. On your final morning visit the shops along Calle Florida or stop by the historic Café Tortoni for one last taste of porteño culture.
7 Day Brazil & Argentina Itinerary, incl. Rio de Janeiro and Iguazu Falls
A week-long South American adventure combines Rio's Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain with Iguazú's 275 waterfalls. Comfortable stays at Hotel Guamini Mision and Hotel Windsor Martinique include daily breakfast and professional bilingual guides.
- Days 1-3
Rio de Janeiro
Begin your adventure in Rio, the marvelous city (cidade maravilhosa). On arrival day, check into your hotel and take it easy with a relaxed walk along Copacabana Beach. Save your swim for another day when you're not tired from traveling. Start day two with an early visit to Sugar Loaf Mountain. The cable cars begin operating at 8 AM, and morning offers the clearest views across the bay. Take the second cable car straight to the 395-meter summit before it gets hot. A recent visitor noted: "The views of Guanabara Bay were incredible, but bring water and sun protection – there's little shade at the top." Visit Christ the Redeemer later in the day when the afternoon clouds often lift. The cog train up Corcovado Mountain provides better views than the van service. You'll get 20 minutes of scenic Tijuca rainforest views on the way up. Book your train tickets online to avoid long waiting times. Use day three to explore Rio freely. Start in the artistic Santa Teresa neighborhood (the old-style tram is a fun ride up), then spend your afternoon at Ipanema Beach. Look for the area between Posts 8-9. It's a favorite spot among locals and perfect for watching Rio life unfold.
- Days 4-7
Iguazu Falls
Take a morning flight to Iguazu (2.5 hours to IGU airport). Stay in Puerto Iguazu on the Argentine side for better falls access. Your arrival afternoon is perfect for visiting the Three Borders Landmark where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay intersect. Spend all of day five on the Argentine side, which has most of the waterfalls. Begin with the Lower Circuit for close-up views, then ride the park train to Devil's Throat. One visitor's experience: "Walking along the catwalk to Devil's Throat was mind-blowing – the power of the falls literally shakes the platform. Go early and bring a waterproof case for your phone!" Cross to the Brazilian side on day six (remember your passport and visa requirements). This side offers stunning panoramic views along its 1,200-meter walkway. Consider visiting the Bird Park in the morning to see toucans and macaws up close. Use your final morning for last-minute activities before departing. Check your flight details carefully as you might leave from either Puerto Iguazu (IGR) or Foz do Iguaçu (IGU) airports. They're only 25 minutes apart but in different countries.
What people love about 7 day Argentina and Brazil tours
- Best of Argentina & Brazil
The tour was great with our tour leader providing outstanding service by constantly ensuring that we were aware of upcoming activities, meeting times, restaurant suggestions and points of interest. I could not recommend Hernanda more highly. The majority of our group integrated very well however, as I imagine is the case in all group tours, there were a few who did not listen to the group leader and as such were constantly questioning what was happening. It is hard to listen when you’re constantly tapping on your cell phone!! Would do another Tourradar tour in the future without hesitation. All accomodation and tours were excellent. Thanks Hernanda for a great experience.
- Río de Janeiro and Iguazú Waterfalls
What an amazing trip! I am still in shock about the landscapes of the Iguazu waterfalls. First of all a big applause to all People Travel´s team, which was absolutely incredible. Mercedes was in every detail and was so sweet and kind with me and my family. She answered all our doubts and worried about us during the entire trip. We did not even have to worry about the check in for domestic flights, which we really appreciate. Rio de Janeiro was an amazing destination, all was very well organized and the landscapes and beach were a 10/10. And Iguazu waterfalls is a destination in Argentina that no one can miss if you are travelling to Argentina. We truly appreciate the selection of the accommodations, especially at Iguazu, we were in love with Hotel Casa Botanica, really nice and cosy and the staff so kind. A big thank you for this trip to all the team of the agency.
- Argentina - Buenos Aires and Iguazú Falls - 6 days
Had a wonderful time in Buenos Aires and Iguaza. Micaela, my guide, contributed a great deal to this. She was pretty much available 24/7 to answer all my questions and give me advice on ways to fully immerse myself in the Argentinian culture. Furthermore, she was always happy to help and never made me feel as if I was being a burden. She is the standard from which guides should be measured. Micaela made me feel totally comfortable and welcome when traveling in Argentina. I absolutely recommend this trip and if possible request Micaela.
