10 Days in Cambodia, incl. Phnom Penh and Siem Reap
Cambodia's diverse landscape unfolds over 10 days across 5 major destinations, including S21 Prison, Kampot's pepper plantations, Koh Rong Sanloem's beaches, floating villages, and UNESCO-listed Angkor Wat. Savor 7 breakfasts, 1 lunch, and 1 dinner of traditional Khmer cuisine.
- Days 1-2
Phnom Penh & History
Begin your journey in Cambodia's capital by visiting the S21 Prison and Killing Fields. "Although emotionally challenging, visiting S21 and the Killing Fields was crucial to understanding Cambodia's recent history and the resilience of its people." Get around the city by tuk-tuk. Book through your hotel to get local prices. In the evening, check out Sisowath Quay for authentic local food.
- Days 3-4
Kampot & Rural Life
Take a 3-hour drive to the riverside town of Kampot. Go kayaking in the early morning to beat the heat. Visit a pepper plantation and learn local cooking. A recent visitor shared: "The cooking class at the pepper plantation was a highlight—we learned to make fish amok and lok lak using ingredients we'd picked up at the morning market."
- Days 5-7
Koh Rong Sanloem Island
- Days 8-10
Siem Reap & Angkor Temples
Take an overnight bus to Siem Reap. Visit the floating villages on Tonle Sap Lake early in the dry season for the best experience. Wake up at 4am for sunrise at Angkor temples. A useful tip: "Wear shoes with good grip as temple steps are steep and slippery. Bring a light scarf for covering shoulders inside temples, and plenty of water—it gets extremely hot by 10am."
10 Days in Cambodia, incl. Siem Reap and Phnom Penh
The wonders of Cambodia unfold over 10 days across 13 destinations, from UNESCO-listed Angkor Wat to Tonle Sap Lake's floating villages. Luxury awaits at Angkor Paradise Hotel while expert guides in 9 languages reveal hidden temples.
- Days 1-3
Siem Reap & Angkor Complex
Start your Cambodian adventure in Siem Reap the gateway to Angkor. "Our guide's knowledge of the temples was amazing - he even provided umbrellas for the hot sun." Visit Angkor Wat around 8:00 AM to beat the crowds and intense heat. Explore the mysterious faces of Angkor Thom's Bayon Temple and visit Ta Prohm where ancient stones intertwine with massive tree roots. Take a trip to the floating villages of Tonle Sap Lake. If you get seasick easily bring motion sickness medication.
- Days 4-5
Battambang
Travel northwest to Cambodia's second-largest city about 3 hours from Siem Reap. Take a ride on the famous Bamboo Train and watch thousands of bats fly out of their caves at Phnom Sampov during sunset. Visit the rice paper making village at Pheam Ek where local workshops create ingredients for traditional spring rolls. "The colonial buildings and traditional wooden houses over 100 years old gave us a wonderful glimpse into Cambodia's past."
- Days 6-7
Phnom Penh
The drive to the capital takes 5-6 hours with a worthwhile stop at Oudong Mountain Cambodia's former capital. Start your Phnom Penh visit with the Killing Fields and S21 Museum. These sites close at 5:00 PM and can be emotionally intense. Spend the afternoon at the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Visit the Central Market built during French colonial times in the morning when temperatures are cooler.
- Days 8-10
Return to Siem Reap via Countryside
Take your time going back to Siem Reap with a stop at Skun's spider market. This unique spot might test your courage if you are squeamish. Visit Phnom Kulen National Park for swimming and see the River of 1000 Lingas. "The waterfall was refreshing after temple visits - bring water shoes as the rocks can be slippery."
- Days 1-2
Phnom Penh
Begin your journey in Cambodia's capital with a tuk-tuk tour through the city streets. Visit S21 Prison early in the morning around 8 AM to avoid crowds and heat. The Killing Fields tour takes about 3 hours. Remember to bring water and wear modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees. In the evening head to the riverside area where you can find local food stalls selling authentic Khmer dishes for $3-5.
- Days 3-4
Kampot
The drive from Phnom Penh to Kampot takes about 3 hours. Plan your kayaking trip between 3-5 PM when the sun is less intense. Visit the pepper plantation before 11 AM to see the harvest in full swing. Sign up for a cooking class that includes market visits but wear good shoes as market floors can get wet and slippery.
- Days 5-7
Koh Rong Sanloem
Getting to the island requires a train ride and fast ferry totaling about 4 hours. Bring motion sickness pills if needed since the ferry can get rough during monsoon season from May to October. Go snorkeling in the morning when visibility is best. You'll need to take a long-tail boat to reach the best spots. Keep in mind the island runs on generators so electricity might be limited at times.
- Days 8-10
Siem Reap
Take an overnight bus (10 hours) to Siem Reap. Start your day at the floating villages when local life is most active. For Angkor Wat sunrise views leave your hotel by 4:45 AM to get a good spot. Take a flashlight for walking in the dark. Visit Ta Prohm between 1-2 PM when there are fewer tourists for better photos.
What people love about 10 day Cambodia tours
- Cambodia Intro
I has the MOST amazing trip across the beautiful Cambodia, with the amazing Mat. This trip really gives you a rounded and full experience of Cambodia - from the chilling killing fields to the amazing beaches of Koh Rong. The knowledge of the local guides was second to none. Accommodation was lovely especially in Phnom Penh. And the food offered was both local and western but all very nice. Do this trip!
