10 Day Canadian Rockies Itinerary, incl. Banff and Jasper
The comprehensive 10-day tour extends from Calgary to Vancouver across 7 major destinations. Features include Banff's hoodoos, Athabasca Glacier walks, Maligne Lake cruises, and Victoria's Butchart Gardens. Includes iconic breakfast at Heritage Park and optional helicopter flights over the Rockies.
- Days 1-2
Calgary & Banff National Park
Begin your journey in Calgary exploring the vibrant Inglewood and Kensington neighborhoods. Plan your drive to Banff for mid-morning to avoid Calgary's 7-9 AM rush hour traffic. "The morning heritage breakfast at Gasoline Alley Museum was a highlight – get there right at opening for the best experience before the crowds arrive."
- Days 3-4
Banff Area
Take two full days to discover Banff National Park. If you're interested in helicopter flights book them for the morning since afternoon winds often lead to cancellations. You'll need advance reservations and good walking shoes for the First Nations Plant Medicine Walk. The best time to hike Bow Falls is before 10 AM when crowds are thin and temperatures are cooler.
- Days 5-6
Icefields Parkway & Jasper
- Day 7
Sun Peaks Transfer
- Day 8
Victoria & Vancouver Island
- Days 9-10
Vancouver Finale
Wrap up your trip in Vancouver by exploring Stanley Park and Gastown. Walking the Stanley Park seawall takes about 2 hours to complete the 5.5-mile loop. "Take the free shuttle from downtown to Granville Island Public Market – it's less crowded in the morning and the food vendors are just opening up."
10 Day Western Canada Itinerary, incl. Calgary and Vancouver
A magnificent 10-day route spans 7 destinations across 620 miles. Highlights include 2 nights each in Banff and Jasper National Parks, Ice Explorer adventures at Columbia Icefield, ferry crossings to Victoria's Butchart Gardens, and Vancouver's Stanley Park.

- Day 2
Calgary to Banff National Park (1.5 hours)
Start with a morning city tour including Canada Olympic Park before heading to the Rockies. You'll see a dramatic change from prairie to mountain peaks as you enter Banff National Park. A traveler's tip: "Book a room on the Bow River side of the hotel for the best mountain views, even if it costs a bit extra."
- Day 3
Banff National Park
You'll have a full day to explore Canada's oldest national park. A helicopter tour offers amazing aerial views if you book early. The Banff Gondola is a more budget-friendly option with great views too. A recent visitor suggests: "The hot springs are less crowded in the evening after tour groups leave - go after 7 PM for a more relaxing soak."

10 Day Canadian Rockies Itinerary, incl. Calgary and Vancouver
A grand 10-day tour connects 7 major destinations including Calgary, Lake Louise, Jasper, and Vancouver. Guests enjoy 3 nights at Fairmont properties, Columbia Icefield adventures, Spirit Island cruise, and 2-day Rocky Mountaineer train rides.
- Days 1-2
Calgary to Lake Louise
Start with a quick drive through downtown Calgary before heading west to Lake Louise. You'll spend two nights at the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. "Our first glimpses of vividly colored lakes took our breath away, with Doug's explanation that 'rock flour' from the glaciers creates those incredible blue-green hues."
- Days 3-4
Jasper National Park
Take the scenic Icefields Parkway to Jasper and stop at Peyto Lake viewpoint if weather allows. Bring hiking boots for Maligne Canyon as the paths can get slippery. A morning cruise to Spirit Island on Maligne Lake offers the best light and calmest waters. Stay at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge but keep in mind some rooms don't have AC which might be uncomfortable during summer months.
- Days 5-6
Banff National Park
Visit the Columbia Icefield on an all-terrain Ice Explorer vehicle tour. Next up is Banff where you'll stay at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, known as the "Castle of the Rockies." Get to Bow Falls early to beat the crowds. "Don't miss the optional helicopter tour for incredible aerial views of the Rockies, but book in advance as spots fill quickly."
- Days 7-8
Rocky Mountaineer Train Journey
- Days 9-10

What people love about 10 day Canada tours
- Wonders of the Canadian Rockies
Hotels were too far from main town Dated and waited too long for rooms
- Heart of the Canadian Rockies
The trip was fantastic, and Peter our tour guide was knowledgeable and extremely funny. We had plenty of time to see other areas of the trip without feeling rushed. The hotels were good, but some of the locations (Banff and Kamloops) the rooms were close by to train lines so we heard the trains all night and early morning. Other than that the hotels were clean and quite nice. We had a wonderful tour and took plenty of photos to show friends and family back home the wonderful areas we had visited.
- Great Resorts of the Canadian Rockies with the Rocky Mountaineer
The only thing that was not organised right was the weather. Otherwise everything was excellent.
