Puerto Natales & Torres del Paine
Take a 3-hour bus to Puerto Natales to explore Torres del Paine National Park. You'll find hiking options for every skill level, from simple day walks to longer circuits. - Days 7-11
Coyhaique Region
- Days 12-17
Puerto Varas & Lake District
Puerto Varas is perfect for exploring the Lake District. Take time to visit Frutillar, a lovely town with strong German influences on Lake Llanquihue. The Osorno Volcano and Petrohué Falls tour shows off classic Andean scenery. One visitor shared: "The German Colonial Museum in Frutillar offered fascinating insights into the region's heritage - but note it's closed Mondays."

Cross into Argentina for some serious hiking. Remember El Chaltén has no cell service or ATMs so bring enough cash. The Laguna Capri trail takes about 5 hours and gives you great Fitz Roy views. A recent visitor shared: "Start the Fitz Roy hikes early - afternoon winds can make the final ascent challenging, and clouds often roll in by midday."
- Days 15-16
El Calafate & Perito Moreno
- Days 17-20
Torres del Paine National Park
- Days 21-24
Puerto Natales to Punta Arenas
- Days 1-6
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Start your Rio adventure at Christ the Redeemer around 8 AM to beat the crowds. Visit Sugar Loaf Mountain in late afternoon when the lighting is perfect for photos. Take time to walk through the artistic Santa Teresa neighborhood and stop at the beautiful Selarón Steps. Visit Copacabana and Ipanema beaches in early morning or late afternoon to avoid the strong midday sun. Stay in Leblon for good beach access and safer evening walks.
- Days 7-8
Iguazú Falls
A quick 2-hour flight takes you to Foz do Iguaçu. You'll want two full days here to see both sides of the falls. The Brazilian side offers great wide-angle views while the Argentine side gets you closer to the action. Your clothes will get wet on the walkways so pack a waterproof phone case and quick-dry clothing.
- Days 9-12
Buenos Aires, Argentina
After a 2.5-hour flight to Buenos Aires set up base in Palermo Soho where you'll find the best food options. Visit Recoleta Cemetery early before the heat sets in and make sure to stop by the beautiful El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore. For an authentic tango experience in San Telmo ask your hotel staff where the locals go.
- Days 13-16
Patagonia & Torres del Paine
Take a 4-hour flight to Punta Arenas then drive 3 hours to Puerto Natales, your gateway to Torres del Paine. The weather changes quickly here so pack layers and rain gear. Start the Torres hike before dawn to catch sunrise at the viewpoint. "The final hour is steep and challenging - trekking poles are a must, especially for the boulder field," one hiker shared.
- Days 17-23
Atacama Desert
Fly 5 hours to Calama and transfer 1 hour to San Pedro de Atacama. The high altitude (over 7,900 feet) takes getting used to so rest up and drink coca tea your first day. Plan for an early 4 AM start to see El Tatio geysers and bundle up for below-freezing temperatures. Visit Valle de la Luna at sunset when the landscape colors really shine.
