14 Day Greece Itinerary, incl. Athens and Santorini
A 14-day tour winds through 18 cities across Greece's Cyclades. The route leads from Athens' Acropolis to Syros' Ermoupolis, continues along Paros' Byzantine trail, showcases Naxos' marble heritage, and culminates at Santorini's caldera. Daily activities include walks, cooking classes, and wine tastings.
- Days 1-2
Athens
Get to the Acropolis early before 8:30 AM when crowds are minimal. "Watching the morning light hit the Parthenon was magical, but bring water and a hat - it gets hot up there quickly." Your second day is perfect for exploring the Plaka district and Acropolis Museum. Book museum tickets online to skip the lines.
- Days 3-4
Syros
Take the morning ferry from Piraeus to Syros (4 hours). Stay in Galissas which offers great swimming in its shallow waters. The coastal walk from Kini to Galissas takes about 2 hours and offers beautiful views. "The coastal path offered stunning views, but wear proper shoes - it's quite rocky in parts." Make time for medieval Ano Syros and try the local loukoumi.
- Days 5-6
Paros
Catch the evening ferry to Paros (1.5 hours). The Drios area makes a good base. Walk the Byzantine road from Lefkes to Prodromos. It's an easy 2-hour walk past herbs and small villages. Join the popular cooking class at Hotel Anezina. "The cooking class was a highlight - we made authentic moussaka and learned family recipes."
- Days 7-8
Naxos
The ferry to Naxos takes just an hour. The Tragea Valley is worth exploring with its olive groves and quiet villages. Try the 7km walk from Kinidaros to Eggares and visit the Olive Press Museum. "The inland routes show a different side of the islands - bring good walking shoes as paths can be uneven."
- Days 9-10
Optional Delos & Mykonos
- Days 11-14
Santorini

Athens & Saronic Islands
Take a morning ferry to Aegina (1 hour) to visit its ancient harbor and Apollo Temple. Continue with a 75-minute ferry to Poros for lunch in the old town. Visit Epidaurus's ancient theater around 4 PM for the best photo lighting. Spend the night in Nafplio where you can find excellent dinner spots in the medieval streets.
- Days 3-4
Peloponnese & Corfu
Visit Olympia early to see the Temple of Zeus before the crowds. Cross the Rio-Antirrio Bridge to Igoumenitsa and take a 90-minute ferry to Corfu. Visit Kerkyra's old town with its beautiful Venetian architecture. Walk the Liston arcade in early evening when locals take their traditional volta stroll.
- Days 5-6
Northern Greece & Delphi
Visit the traditional Balkan village of Metsovo before heading to Meteora's monasteries. Remember to bring a light scarf as most monasteries require covered shoulders and knees. Get there early to avoid tour buses. Next up is Delphi where morning fog often surrounds the Temple of Apollo creating a special atmosphere.
- Days 7-9
Rhodes
Take the overnight ferry to Rhodes which offers comfortable cabins. One traveler notes: "The medieval old town is magical at night—follow the Street of Knights when tourist crowds thin after 6 PM." Visit Lindos Acropolis in the morning before it gets hot. Wear good shoes and bring water for the steep climb.
- Days 10-12
Crete
Stay in Heraklion to explore Crete. Start with Knossos Palace first thing in the morning since there's little shade. Visit Chania for its Venetian harbor and local food. Take a boat to Spinalonga island to learn about its history as a leper colony. A recent visitor shared: "The audio guide brings the isolation of past residents to life—deeply moving experience."
- Days 13-14
Santorini & Athens Return
14 Days in Greece, incl. Athens and Santorini
The wonders of Greece unfold across 9 destinations including Athens' Acropolis, Delphi's Temple of Apollo, and ancient Olympia's stadium. Visitors will see Mycenae's beehive tombs, medieval Nafplion, and finish in the Cyclades islands of Naxos and Santorini.
- Days 1-2
Athens
Begin your Greek adventure in the capital. Try to arrive early on Day 1 since airport traffic can get busy. One traveler noted, "The Acropolis was incredible, but getting there by 8:30 AM helped avoid the crowds." Check out the Plaka district's tavernas and take a walk through the National Gardens to the Temple of Olympian Zeus. On Day 2 visit the Acropolis. What people love about 2 week Greece tours
- Greek Island Wanderer
The Greek Wanderers tour was amazing. Peter our guide was fantastic..he was really friendly, lots of fun and best if all a Greek local so was very knowledgeable. The tour was busy with lots of good hikes most days, some of them were quite challenging but very doable if you are fit and able. The scenery was amazing and I liked the fact that you spent at least 2 to 3 nights in each location. The Greek islands visited were all very beautiful and each offered something different and unique.
- 13 Day Group Tour at Ancient Greece, Santorini, Mykonos & Iconic Sites
I just returned from a fantastic 13-day group tour through Greece, and I can honestly say it was one of the best travel experiences of my life! The entire trip was incredibly well-organized, allowing us to soak in the rich history and stunning beauty of each location without any stress. What really made this tour special was how smoothly everything ran. From transfers to accommodations, everything was taken care of, which allowed us to focus on enjoying the journey. The group was fun, and we made some great friends along the way.
