7 Day Maldives Itinerary, incl. Malé and Felidhu Atoll
Three main destinations - Male, Felidhu Atoll, and Bodu Moro Island - create a perfect week-long escape. Activities range from snorkeling shipwrecks to exploring uninhabited beaches and experiencing local culture at Fulidhoo Island. Six nights aboard traditional dhoni with all meals included.
- Day 1
Malé and First Tastes of Island Life
Plan to arrive at Malé International Airport before 10 AM to maximize your first day. Stop by the Voyage Maldives counter after customs for your marina transfer. Start with a morning snorkel session to test your gear and get comfortable in the water. The Maldivian sun is stronger than you might expect, even on cloudy days, so bring reef-safe sunscreen and a rash guard. In the afternoon you'll board your dhoni boat and meet the crew before sailing into South Malé Atoll.
- Days 2-4
South Malé Atoll Exploration
You'll spend three full days discovering South Malé Atoll's pristine waters and islands. Go snorkeling in the morning when the water visibility is best. You'll likely spot reef sharks, sea turtles and countless tropical fish. A recent visitor said: "Swimming with sharks and turtles at the shipwreck was incredible. The water clarity made it feel like we were in an aquarium." Between water activities you can relax on the sundeck or visit local islands to watch traditional boat building.
- Days 5-6
Felidhu Atoll Adventures
Next you'll sail to the more remote Felidhu Atoll where fishing remains the main way of life. Visit the untouched beaches of Bodu Mora Island but bring water shoes since coral fragments can be sharp. Your boat will usually anchor in quiet lagoons at night, perfect for looking at the stars. Bring books for downtime since there's no WiFi on board. The evenings include fresh seafood dinners and you can watch traditional Bodu Beru performances on Fulidhoo Island.
- Day 7
Return to Malé
Make the trip back to Malé in the morning. Book flights after noon to avoid rushing since the boat typically arrives around 9 AM, but sea conditions can change arrival times. If you have a late flight consider getting a day room, as Malé gets very hot and humid for walking around with luggage.
7 Day Maldives Itinerary, incl. Male and Felidhu Atoll
South Male and Felidhu atolls reveal their secrets during this week-long adventure. Highlights include Bodu Moro Island's pristine beaches, traditional boat-building demonstrations, and local Bodu Beru performances. All meals and equipment provided.
- Day 1
Male & South Male Atoll
Arrive at Male International Airport by 10 AM to make the most of your first day. Your first snorkeling excursion starts at 10:30 AM near the airport marina. Get settled in your dhoni cabin before sailing to South Male Atoll. As one traveler noted: "The first glimpse of those crystal-clear waters and vibrant reefs makes the early wake-up totally worth it."
- Days 2-4
South Male Atoll
The next three days are dedicated to exploring the southern atolls. Go snorkeling before 10 AM when the water is calmest. You'll need reef-safe sunscreen and a rash guard since the Maldivian sun is strong even on cloudy days. Visit the uninhabited Bodu Moro Island for photos and beach time. Look for sea turtles, reef sharks and rays during morning and dusk snorkel sessions when marine life is most active.
- Days 5-6
Felidhu Atoll
Cross over to Felidhu Atoll to see traditional fishing communities and local life. You can visit a boat-building yard to learn about traditional dhoni construction techniques. One guest shared: "The stops at local islands were eye-opening – these aren't tourist resorts but real communities where people have lived for centuries." The food gets great reviews from travelers, with one noting "The chef Ajoy was amazing." You'll enjoy fresh-caught fish and Maldivian specialties from the small galley kitchen.
- Day 7
Return to Male
Take an early morning cruise back to Male (2-3 hours). Book afternoon departure flights to avoid any timing issues with boat arrival. The journey ends at Male International Airport.
7 Days in Maldives, incl. Male and Maafushi
Marine encounters define this week-long tour of Male, Maafushi, Dhigurah Island, and Fulidhoo. The schedule features whale shark encounters at South Ari atoll and nurse shark swimming at Alimatha House Reef. Six nights in deluxe sea-view rooms complete the experience.
- Day 1
Male to Maafushi Transfer
Take a 30-minute speedboat from Male to Maafushi Island. Book flights that land before 3 PM to use the regular shared boat transfers at 10 AM, 1 PM or 5 PM. A private speedboat costs $170. A recent visitor noted: "Although we enjoyed our time here, arriving late meant waiting hours at the un-airconditioned airport for the ferry - a devastating start to vacation."
- Day 2
Shark Bay Adventure
Visit Vaavu Atoll to snorkel with nurse sharks. The trip includes stops at Fulidhoo Island for stingray spotting and lunch at a natural sandbank. The tour provides photography but bringing your own camera lets you take unlimited photos. A visitor's advice: "The excursion boats required a difficult water entry over the bow via a thin runged ladder - wear water shoes for better grip."
- Day 3
Whale Shark Experience
Get up close with whale sharks ranging from 15-30 feet long. The tour includes lunch at a nearby island. You can swap this activity for island hopping or a resort visit if preferred. A traveler shared: "Although the reef was mostly dead, we saw rays, turtles, sharks and even a whale shark - the marine life encounters were incredible."
- Day 4
Free Day in Maafushi
Spend time at your beachfront hotel. The bikini beach is close by but remember this is a conservative country where regular beaches need modest dress. Try jet-skiing, kayaking or more snorkeling if you want to stay active. One guest mentioned: "The infinity pool on the property was very relaxing, and the bikini beach is very close."
- Day 5
Island Hopping Tour
- Day 6
Relaxation Day
Take another free day for beach time or extra activities. The hotel gets great reviews (4.8/5) but remember alcohol is only available during resort visits. A helpful tip from a visitor: "If you wish to enjoy drinks, book a day trip to a resort - they offer special packages including food and beverage."

What people love about 7 day Maldives tours
- Maldives Dhoni Explorer
Hailim made the trip. Was a blast. Snorkeling was great. Swam with sharks, turtles, shipwreck, etc. Gorgeous.
- Maldives Dhoni Cruise
Maldives Dhoni cruise - an amazing experience ... when we FINALLY got away . Arrived at Male airport , but no one to welcome us :( . After many entanglements , lies and frustrations , we came first aboard the ship about one and a half days later :( - We had to get in touch with G - adventures several times , did not feel that there was any kind of help. Has now after returning however received compensation! Aside from that, a very special experience to see Maldives from a ship. Delicious food onboard . But we could fell that the staff on board had counted on vacation this week . WE WERE NOT BOOKED TO THIS SHIP RIDETHANKS TO G Adventures :( -An employee of G Adventures must have a bad taste in the mouth!!! BUT for sure we will recommend the Maldives Dhoni Cruise - just make sure, that the trip is booked!!!!!!
- Deluxe and Adventures bestseller of Maldives
I wouldn’t say it was really a tour. More of a pre-booked hotel room with a few snorkeling excursions included. There is no your leader and itinerary is subject to change as it is not an organized tour. Still a great hotel and the excursions were a great experience. Lots of fun and the snorkeling was amazing.
