13 Days in Slovenia, incl. Kranjska Gora and Lake Bled
The 13-day circular route through Slovenia's Julian Alps features 3-night stays in Kranjska Gora, Bovec, Bohinj, and Bled. Daily activities include guided hikes, water sports, and cultural experiences, perfectly paced for moderate fitness levels.
- Days 1-3
Kranjska Gora Region
Drive 1.5 hours from Ljubljana to Kranjska Gora to begin exploring the Julian Alps. Visit Zelenci Nature Reserve early in the morning to see the emerald springs before crowds gather. Take the 15km hike to Planica Nordic Centre for amazing mountain views but pack proper hiking boots for the rocky terrain. Plan the Martuljek waterfall hike for early morning since summer often brings afternoon thunderstorms. The lower falls take just 30 minutes to reach while the upper 110m waterfall needs about 2 hours of more challenging climbing.
- Days 4-6
Soča Valley
Take the historic Vršič Pass with its 50 hairpin turns to reach the Soča Valley. For the optional Slemenova Špica hike start before 9 AM to stay in the shade. Go rafting on the Soča River from Bovec wearing quick-dry clothes and good footwear. Watch your step on the Kozjak waterfall trail near Kobarid if it's been raining and bring walking poles for the rocky parts.
- Days 7-9
Lake Bohinj
Stay at Lake Bohinj and take the Vogel cable car at 8 AM for high-altitude hiking. Pick between the scenic Šija trail (5km round trip) or the more difficult Orlova Glava route. For the Mostnica gorge walk park at Stara Fužina village and enjoy dramatic views of 20m-high limestone walls along the 2km route. Make time to visit a local farm in Studor village to try authentic Bohinj cheese.
- Days 10-13
Lake Bled
Spend at least 3 full days around peaceful Lake Bled. Hike up to Ojstrica viewpoint in the morning. It takes about 45 minutes on steep terrain and you'll need sturdy shoes for the exposed final section. Walk the easier 6km lakeside path as an alternative. Try the bee-cycling tour that follows flat terrain along the Sava River for 30km with stops to learn about Slovenia's beekeeping traditions.
13 Days in Slovenia, incl. Ljubljana and Bled

Take the funicular up to Ljubljana Castle for great views of the city, then enjoy a boat ride on the Ljubljanica River when the morning light is perfect for photos. Book your stay in the old town where you can walk everywhere, but make sure your room has AC since summer afternoons get quite warm.
