7 Days in Tanzania Safari, incl. Serengeti and Ngorongoro
Tanzania's natural wonders unfold over seven days: Lake Manyara's tree-climbing lions, Serengeti's vast plains, and Ngorongoro's diverse wildlife. Springlands Hotel and luxury lodges provide comfort while covering 4 major parks.
- Day 1
Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi
- Day 2
Lake Manyara National Park
Take an early 3-hour drive to Lake Manyara. Morning is the best time to spot active wildlife including tree-climbing lions and large elephant herds near the lake. You can visit an authentic Maasai village in the afternoon for an extra $50. Bring binoculars to spot the amazing variety of birds along the shore.
- Days 3-4
Serengeti National Park
The 5-6 hour drive to Serengeti is scenic and you can stop at Olduvai Gorge archaeological site. You'll spend two full days on game drives across the vast plains. "Our guide knew exactly where to position us for the best wildlife viewing - we spent an unforgettable hour watching five lionesses with their 20 cubs playing near a rock outcropping."
- Day 5
Ngorongoro Crater
- Day 6
Tarangire National Park
- Day 7
Return to Kilimanjaro
7 Days in Tanzania, incl. Moshi and Mount Kilimanjaro
The trail rises from Machame Gate (1500m) through 5 distinct climate zones. Key landmarks include Lava Tower, Barranco Wall, and iconic glacier views. The 70km route culminates in a challenging summit night pushing 7km to Uhuru Peak (5895m).
- Day 1
Moshi to Machame Camp
Your journey starts with a short 45-minute drive from Moshi (1,400m) to Machame Gate. After registration you'll begin a 7-hour climb through lush rainforest to reach Machame Camp (3,000m). "Our guides were incredible at pacing us, constantly reminding us 'pole pole' (slowly slowly) which was key to acclimatization." The forest trails can get muddy so trekking poles are essential.
- Day 2
Machame Camp to Shira Camp
- Day 3
Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
- Day 4
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
- Day 5
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
- Day 6
Summit Day - Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Start at midnight and climb 6-7 hours in the dark and cold (-10°C to -20°C) to reach Stella Point (5,756m) at sunrise. One more hour takes you to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). "The final push was the hardest thing I've ever done, but watching the sunrise from the Roof of Africa made every step worth it." Afterward descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for your last night on the mountain.
- Day 7
Mweka Camp to Moshi
7 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing, incl. Marangu Route and Uhuru Peak
The classic Kilimanjaro route spans 7 days: 2 nights at Panama Garden Resort and 4 in mountain huts. The 65km trail crosses 5 ecological zones, from Marangu Gate (1,860m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), visiting Mandara, Horombo, and Kibo Huts.
- Day 1
Moshi Arrival and Preparation
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and take a 45-minute transfer to Moshi town. Check your equipment and rent any missing gear locally. It's best to arrive at least 24 hours before your climb to acclimatize and organize your gear. Don't skip the pre-climb briefing - it's essential for understanding what lies ahead.
- Day 2
Marangu Gate (1,860m) to Mandara Hut (2,700m)
- Day 3
Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Take on a moderate 10km trek through moorland vegetation lasting 5-6 hours. You'll spot your first views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. For better acclimatization take a short afternoon walk 200m higher before returning to sleep at Horombo. One climber noted: "Lots of carbs, rice, noodles and veggies - the mountain food is actually amazing."
- Day 4
Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (4,700m)
- Day 5
Summit Day - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Horombo Hut
Begin around midnight for the challenging summit push. The 16km round trip takes 9-12 hours total. Dress in layers since temperatures can drop below -20°C (-4°F). A previous climber advised: "Bring rain pants! The guides really cared that we made it to the summit and ensured we had everything we needed."
- Day 6
Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

What people love about 7 day Tanzania tours
- Big Five Classic Safari in Tanzania **Sustainable Approach to Travel
The people at World Adventure Tours were wonderful. Starting with Moses who helped us create an amazing six day private safari to Lake Manyara, Serengeti National Parks and Ngorongoro Crater. Mmasa our guide made the experience fun and memorable. We saw all the animals in our wish list including a lucky encounter with the elusive leopard in Serengeti. Accommodations were just fantastic. I would 100% recommend World Adventure Tours for Tanzania Safaris
- Kilimanjaro climbing machame route 7 days
Brilliant trip. Did the 7 day Macheme route (tents). Very well organised, asante sana to Godfrey and his team of guides, porters and cooks that looked after us, and got us to the summit and back down safely. This was a truly life changing experience and i totally recommend Almighty Kilimanjaro, great food, and excellent value for money.
- 7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro - Marangu Route
I cannot express how happy I am with Steppe Dogs Adventures. At first I was hesitant due to their far superior cheaper price compared to other companies. However, once I did my research I discovered they are able to offer this cheaper price due to the climbing permit being per group, not per person. Meaning with careful planning they can still profit, but save the cost for the customers. Additionally, despite the cheaper price, Steppe Dogs Adventures still offered a 1st class service. In my review, I will talk about a few categories I feel are important to mention in a review: 1) Communication: Communications were extremely prompt and accurate. I was able to communicate with Frank from the team via Facebook and speak with them real time. The answers from Frank were accurate and on point. 2) Payment: Steppe Dogs Adventures accept payment from wire bank transfer of which saves a lot in exchange and fees. Trust me this is extremely helpful. 3) Service: Now this gets down to the actual climb itself. I did the 5 day Marangu route. I opted for the group option as it was cheaper but ended up with only a group of myself and 1 other guy, which was brilliant that Steppe Dogs Adventures still honored the booking (because I believe they ideally need slightly larger groups due to their business model to work). We had 2 guides (Walter and Romeo) of who were absolute legends and very knowledgeable of the mountain, its climate and ecosystem. The porters were heroes and work so hard to ensure you have a great trip. The food was also great considering the context of climbing up a mountain for a few days. I would happily recommend Steppe Dogs Adventures to anyone looking to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. Keep up the great work!
