What people love about Amazon Rainforest Tours from Manaus
- Amazon Jungle - 4 Days
Great guide w/ very good English: Jungles James, although I call him Jungle Jim (gringos know why; also catchier). Entertaining, engaging, industrious, attentive, knowledgeable. No need to spent your money on other platinum, gold, silver, etc. tours; these people try harder: they pick you up from the airport any time and drop you back if that’s what you fancy. Lodge is very austere and comfy, no luxury and if you expect one, go do some gilded safari in Kenya. Staff is helpful. Food’s basic, plenty of rice & beans and how great those are, among other things: we loved it. You catch and eat your own piranhas, too. Canoe/kayak all you wish miles at no end but if you are not keen in reading natural signs to find your way, stay around where you can see the lodge. Swimming in the Amazon after a grueling hike is priceless! And no, piranhas don’t attack and strip you to your bare bones unless you are bleeding ? Mosquito repellents (on your body and clothing) when into the jungle is a must and appropriate long sleeved tops and pants and boots is also a must, Spray at night, too. No hot water though the electrical shower head is there but then again, it is 30 C 110+ F so who cares? Get your prophylactic malaria pills.
