What people love about Sicily Tours in September
- Sicilian Secrets – Tour of Sicily & Aeolian Islands
This is my second Holiday with Dimensione Sicilia and won't be the last!
- Sicilian Secrets - Tour of Sicily 6 days
Positives: 1) The tour itself was very good, the Sicilian countryside was beautiful as were the towns and sites visited – Noto, Valley of the Temples, Monreale and Palatine Palace in particular. 2) The visit to the Florio Winery in Marsala was excellent and the lunch provided was very good. 3) The chocolate tasting was fun and informative and the lunch at Osteria Sapori Perduti was excellent – best meal we had. 4) The local experts (Angelo, Stefania, Lorenzo and Marta) for the visits to the archaeological sites and Palermo walking tour were great. Very well-informed and passionate about their subject. 5) Our guide Irene was well-informed, cheerful and always on hand to help. 6) Hotel breakfasts were all good with plenty of choices. 7) Overall, the tour was good value for money. Negatives: 1) The hotels used are probably all 4-star rated but not all rooms in each hotel were at that standard. Some were very basic and extremely small for 2 people with luggage e.g. the “economy room” at the Mercure in Palermo. Luckily our guide, Irene, was able to intercede and get us something better. 2) The hotel dinners were a little disappointing. No choices were offered and all predominantly seafood. Thankfully Irene was able to get the hotel to provide alternates for those who didn’t or couldn’t eat seafood. Also, it seemed a little cheap not to offer free water at dinner. 3) On 2 occasions the bus dropped us a ways from our hotel and we had to drag our luggage to and from the hotel. Once in heavy rain. Maybe the hotels used should be bus accessible? 4) Our first tour meeting was a little chaotic as it seemed 2 other groups were having their meetings as well. 5) We only realized after we left the tour that the “Tasting of Local Street Food” on day 5 in Palermo never happened. A general observation – not a positive or a negative -there is a lot of walking on this tour with uneven surfaces, steps and steep hills. The bus tends to drop you in a parking lot a fair distance from any of the attractions you are going to visit. This tour is probably not recommended for everyone “12 to 90”.
- Explore Southern Sicily
We loved our Sicily tour!!! We had a wonderful guide, Luca who was helpful even beyond our time with him as we left Sicily and moved on to mainland Italy. The accommodations were good and the food delish! We will be using them again!

What are the most popular destinations to visit in Sicily Islands during September?
September presents ideal conditions to explore Sicily's premier locations. The crowds thin out at Taormina where the Hotel Villa Diodoro provides sea-view accommodations. Mount Etna tours benefit from excellent visibility while Syracuse and Palermo's historic centers become more navigable. The September harvest transforms Sicily into a food and wine enthusiast's paradise. Visitors can join special harvest tours at historic establishments like Florio Winery in the Marsala region. Catania offers seasonal "granita & brioche" tastings while Modica showcases its chocolate craftsmanship at Sabadì. According to a TourRadar guest "The wine offerings were not just sips but full glasses and the food pairings at Etna wineries had the most inventive cuisine." Local experiences include honey tastings near Mount Etna and street food tours through Palermo's bustling markets.
What are the best UNESCO sites to visit in Sicily Islands in September?
September's moderate temperatures create perfect conditions for exploring Sicily's UNESCO heritage. The Valley of Temples in Agrigento takes on a special quality in the autumn light. Palermo's Arab-Norman treasures including the Monreale Cathedral and Palatine Chapel welcome visitors with comfortable temperatures. A recent visitor observed "The baroque cities of Noto Ragusa and Modica were breathtaking in September's light." The ancient mosaics at Villa Romana del Casale and Syracuse's Greek ruins offer rewarding visits in the gentler weather.

September visitors find a range of welcoming accommodations across Sicily. The Hotel Villa Diodoro in Taormina and Hotel Livingston in Syracuse offer Mediterranean views. A TourRadar guest noted "The hotels were all centrally located with excellent breakfast buffets." The Aeolian Islands shine in September when sea conditions favor island hopping to Lipari Stromboli and Panarea.
