  • Day 1

    Lençóis Historic Center

  • Day 1

    Lençóis Introduction

    Begin your Chapada Diamantina adventure in Lençóis. Head to Parque da Muritiba for a 5km riverside walk along the Lençóis River. The trail requires careful footing on loose rocks. Take refreshing swims at Cachoeira da Primavera, Cachoeirinha and Poço Halley.   • Day 1

    Salvador to Chapada Diamantina

    Take an early morning bus from Salvador to Chapada. The 6-hour journey requires some preparation. Get water and snacks before boarding. Pick seats on the right side of the bus for the best views. Buses usually leave Salvador's Rodoviária at 7 AM. Show up 30 minutes early to get settled.

    
  • Day 2

    Poço do Diabo and Cave Exploration

    Start your day at Mucugezinho River and head to Poço do Diabo waterfall early. The 20-meter waterfall makes a great swimming spot. Wear water shoes since the rocks get slippery. In the afternoon, visit Lapa Doce Cave, one of Brazil's biggest limestone cave networks. The paths are in good shape but bring a light jacket. The cave stays around 72°F all year.

    Muritiba Municipal Park

    Take on the 4km trail through Muritiba Park in the morning before it gets too hot. You'll need lots of water since there isn't much shade. The Colored Sands Salon looks best in morning light.     Ribeirão do Meio

    Check out this natural water park with its popular water slide. It's most exciting right after rain when the water flow is strong. Get there by 9 AM to enjoy the pools before crowds arrive.     Poço Encantado and Poço Azul

    These blue pools are some of Chapada Diamantina's most incredible sights. Visit Poço Encantado first for the best morning light then go to Poço Azul for a swim. Note that Poço Encantado only allows visitors over 12. For the best photos visit between April and September when sunlight hits the cave water just right.

    Lençóis Exploration

    Take time to explore historic Lençóis. Visit the morning market for local fruits and crafts. Walk around to see the colonial buildings from the old diamond mining days. Want a great view? Hike up Morro do Pai Inácio for sunset. It's a steep 40-minute climb each way but worth it.

    Return to Salvador

    Catch a morning bus back to Salvador. The trip takes 6 hours. If you're flying out that day book an afternoon flight to allow time for delays. You might want to spend a night in Salvador's historic Pelourinho area if you have time.
