  • Day 1

    Los Angeles to Las Vegas

    Travel east through Death Valley's stark desert landscape. Take plenty of water and sun protection, as Death Valley often sees temperatures above 100°F (38°C). Stop for shopping at the Nevada State Line outlets on the way. Once in Vegas, tour the Strip and visit Fremont Street before 10 PM to see the full light show.

    
  • Day 2

    Hoover Dam Day Trip

    Start early to avoid crowds at Hoover Dam, just 45 minutes from Vegas. Book your power plant tour ahead of time since they sell out quickly. Visit in the morning before the intense midday heat. Spend your afternoon in Las Vegas. One visitor noted: "The evening Strip tour is really worth it since you'll know exactly what you want to revisit."

    
  • Day 3

    Las Vegas to Sedona

    Leave early and cross the Mojave Desert, climbing the Colorado Plateau along historic Route 66. Take the Oak Creek Canyon drive, which drops 2,000 feet through winding turns. Sit on the right side for the best views. Visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona for sunset photos. Stay overnight in Flagstaff, where you'll enjoy temperatures 15-20°F cooler than Sedona.

    Monument Valley and Horseshoe Bend

    Take a Navajo-led jeep tour through Monument Valley. Wear sturdy closed shoes for the dusty, rough trails. Bring a light jacket for the outdoor BBQ lunch since desert winds can get cool.     Zion and Valley of Fire

    Begin your day in Zion National Park. The Virgin River trail is gentle but watch your step when wet. End your trip at Valley of Fire State Park for sunset when the rocks show their richest colors. It's about an hour back to Vegas.
