3 Days on the Amalfi Coast, incl. Capri and Positano
A luxury 57ft yacht carries you to Castellammare di Stabia, Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi, and Positano. Blue Grotto visits, Faraglioni Rocks aperitivo, and Li Galli islands swimming highlight the journey. Half-board meals included in 4-cabin accommodation.
- Day 1
Sorrento to Capri
Meet at Marina di Stabia by 8:30 AM for your safety briefing before departing at 9 AM. You'll sail along the Sorrento Coast first, with about 3 hours to explore Sorrento's historic center. Visit Corso Italia early to beat the crowds and try the local limoncello. A recent sailor shared: "Beautiful landscapes, pleasant sailing, nice team, excellent skipper - though be prepared for engine use if the winds aren't favorable." In the afternoon, sail to Capri's Faraglioni rocks for drinks. Stay to explore Capri town after most tourists leave. Take the funicular from Marina Grande to the town (€2.00 one-way) and walk to Punta Tragara for great Faraglioni views. Bring good walking shoes since Capri's streets are steep and can be slippery.
- Day 2
Blue Grotto to Amalfi
Get to the Blue Grotto by 9:30 AM to avoid crowds. You'll switch to small rowing boats to enter through the narrow cave opening. Note that rough seas can close the grotto. After seeing all of Capri by boat, sail past Punta Campanella into Amalfi Coast waters, stopping at Nerano Bay for lunch and swimming. The afternoon takes you past Li Galli islands and Positano on your way to Amalfi. You'll see the impressive Duomo as you approach. Visit the cathedral in late afternoon when it's cooler. One guest noted: "The itinerary was well planned so the trip was really relaxing and enjoyable. We were neither rushing to a place nor spending too much time on one spot."
- Day 3
Positano and Return
Start your last day sailing to Positano. The town spreads up steep cliffs, so expect lots of stairs. For a quieter beach experience, walk 10 minutes to Fornillo Beach instead of the busy main Spiaggia Grande. The view of Positano's buildings stepping down to the sea is stunning from the water. Have lunch near Li Galli islands before heading back to Marina di Stabia, arriving around 3 PM. The return sail covers about 15 nautical miles and takes about 2 hours depending on conditions. If you have evening travel plans, allow 45-60 minutes to drive back to Naples.
3 Days in Southern Italy, incl. Sorrento and Pompeii
A grand tour of five cities features UNESCO Pompeii ruins, Blue Grotto visits (April-October), and Capri island excursions. Grand Hotel Vesuvio in Sorrento provides two nights' lodging with local dinners and Bay of Naples views.
- Day 1
Rome to Sorrento
Get an early start with a 6:30 AM hotel pickup in Rome. Book a centrally located hotel to ensure pickup service. The 3-hour coach journey to Sorrento takes you through beautiful Italian countryside. A previous traveler shared: "The drives between Rome, Naples and Sorrento could have been more informative, but the views were spectacular." If you get motion sickness consider bringing medication. The coastal roads are winding. For the best views sit on the right side of the bus as you head south.
- Day 2
Capri (April-October)
Take the morning ferry to Capri (30-40 minutes). Start with the Blue Grotto to avoid the crowds but remember access depends on weather and tides. If the grotto isn't open you'll visit the stunning Faraglioni rocks instead. Your afternoon is perfect for exploring Capri's boutiques and sampling local limoncello. For winter visits (November-March): Enjoy a free day in Sorrento. A winter visitor noted: "During January there's no Capri trip, but I received excellent personal service in Sorrento and enjoyed exploring the town's colorful streets and sweeping views of Naples Bay."
- Day 3
Pompeii and Return to Rome
Check out by noon for a 1:15 PM departure to Pompeii. You'll spend about 2 hours at the archaeological site. According to one visitor: "The guide at Pompeii was excellent - having someone explain what you're looking at makes all the difference." Bring good walking shoes with grip since the ancient streets can be slippery. In summer pack water and sun protection since the ruins offer little shade. The return trip to Rome takes about 3 hours. Book your hotel near Termini Station for the most convenient drop-off point.
Marvellous Amalfi
UNESCO-listed Pompeii ruins and the Maritime Republic of Amalfi highlight this three-day coastal tour. Hotel Luna Convento provides two nights' lodging, complemented by authentic Neapolitan cuisine and Gulf of Salerno leisure time.
