River Cruises in Egypt Reviews
- 5 Days – 4 Nights Nile Cruise 5* From Cairo by Flight
Perfectly planned trip, flexible with add ons. Alaa is very friendly and informative. Want to go back :)
- 7 Days Of Wonder In Egypt (Domestic Flight Included)
The combination of the Cruise, lying on the sun deck and riding along the nile with the cultural trips to great temples and monuments was nice! The things we saw were great and the relaxation on the deck was great! The service personal on the ship was very nice! The ship was outdated but the crew made the best of what they had! Cairo Pass tour was available all the time and answered to all of our needs if we needed something! That was impressive! But we did not get an itinerary and that is very important to have at the beginning of the trip with information about what time to get up, what time the ship leaves, what time lunch is, when there is free time, when we would go where etc... So we can relax and prepare ourselves. He also tried to organise as much as possible for us with extra trips without really asking us which combination or what kind of vacation or what trips were better suited for us. It was just assumed that we want to see as much as possible and he didnt give us advice if the extra trip, we paid for extra!, were actually worth it or if we could have done less and then more relaxing.. We did not get free water as it was written on the website. Cairo Pass tour did drive us to places to buy water but we still thought we would get free water, which was not the case. The drinks on the boat are too expensive! Cairo Pass tour is a very great trip organiser and was there for us for everything! But we were just too ill informed and felt like we were pushed into extra trips and costs we didnt necessarily need or at least not in the way or in the time slot that he wanted us to go, wich led to an unrelaxing and expensive vacation for us. Also the fact that one expects us to tip everyone although everything was already paid for, was unexplicable to us. But Cairo Pass Tour is a great guy!! And the sights we saw were amazing! My friend and me always had our own guide, so we werent in a big group, which was also very nice and special.
- 5 Days 4 Nights Cruise from Luxor to Aswan
I booked a 4-night Cairo and Nile Cruise trip for my mother and her friend with Nile Cruise Travel. Being very wary of scams and poor quality, I was impressed by the level of service, communication and professionalism of the team from day 1. Mohamed was amazing and made sure everything was taken care of. Whilst I didn't go on the trip, my mother was thoroughly impressed with the whole package. The Cairo section was well organized, transfers and pickups were on time, hotels were good quality and the guides great. The cruise was also well organized from start to finish and they really enjoyed their time aboard visiting the sights and monuments in Luxor, Edfu and Aswan. All up, I highly recommend Nile Cruise Travel for similar bookings.
What our customers ask about Egypt River Cruises
What are the best times of year to do an Egypt river cruise?
Egypt river cruises are most enjoyable from October to April when the weather is mild and suitable for outdoor exploration. Data from TourRadar shows November and December as top choices with temperatures ranging from 75-80°F (24-27°C). While summer months from June to August offer lower prices and fewer tourists the heat can be intense when exploring sites like Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The weather in November was perfect for exploring the temples and enjoying the sundeck on the MS Royal Lily cruise ship."
What shore excursions are typically included in Egypt Nile cruise packages?
Egypt Nile cruise packages generally cover visits to major archaeological sites with expert Egyptologist guides leading the way. The standard itinerary includes Karnak Temple Luxor Temple Valley of the Kings Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor as well as Philae Temple and High Dam in Aswan. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Our guide Khaled was excellent and showed great knowledge of Egypt's history at every stop." Extra activities like Abu Simbel temples tours (90 USD) hot air balloon rides over Luxor (120 USD) and Nubian village visits are available for additional fees.
How do embarkation and disembarkation typically work on Egypt River Cruises?
Cruises depart from either Luxor or Aswan with boarding starting in the early afternoon. A TourRadar traveler on the Holiday In cruise reported: "The embarkation process was smooth - we were met at the airport transferred to the ship and had lunch while waiting for our cabin." Departure is usually scheduled for 8 AM on the final day. Many operators including Beyond The Nile Tours provide complimentary transfers between airports or hotels and the cruise ship.
What type of accommodation options are typically available on Egypt Nile cruise ships?
Nile cruise ships provide 5-star lodging with various cabin types. Some vessels like MS Mayfair feature deluxe rooms with private balconies while others such as Princess Sarah I offer standard cabins and suites overlooking the Nile. Standard amenities include air conditioning private bathrooms and large windows. One TourRadar traveler commented: "The cruise was better than expected. Food was of wide variety and good quality accommodation spacious enough and crew were very friendly and helpful."
What's the difference between a standard Nile cruise ship and a Dahabiya?
The main distinction lies in size and style. Standard cruise ships accommodate over 100 guests with modern facilities while Dahabiyas are smaller traditional sailing vessels hosting 12-20 passengers. Nilvison's Luxury Dahabiya cruise offers a more personal experience. A TourRadar traveler observed: "The Dahabiya provided a more authentic peaceful way to experience the Nile compared to larger ships."
What is included in the dining experience on Egypt river cruises?
Full board meals come standard on most Nile cruises with breakfast lunch and dinner provided daily. Vessels like Princess Sarah I serve both international dishes and Egyptian specialties accommodating various dietary needs including vegetarian vegan halal and Jain options. Meals included both Egyptian specialties and international dishes with themed dinner nights adding to the experience."
