Brazilian highlights await over 7 days, from Rio's Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, and Maracanã Stadium to both sides of Iguazu Falls. Visit Bird Park with 1,400 exotic birds and enjoy a cultural evening at Rafain Churrascaria.
- Day 1
Rio de Janeiro Arrival
- Day 2
Rio de Janeiro Highlights
Get an early start at 8:00 AM to visit Christ the Redeemer before the crowds arrive. The morning fog usually clears by 9 AM giving you better photo opportunities. The cog train ride up Corcovado Mountain takes about 20 minutes. In the afternoon head to Sugarloaf Mountain. Take the cable car up around 4 PM so you can see the city in daylight and stick around for sunset.
- Day 3
Rio to Iguazu Transfer
- Day 4
Brazilian Side of Iguazu Falls
Start your morning at the Brazilian side of the falls where you'll get the best overall views. The walking trail is mostly flat with some stairs and takes 2-3 hours to complete. A recent visitor shared: "The Brazilian side gives you that jaw-dropping first impression - bring a waterproof phone case, you'll get splashed at Devil's Throat viewpoint!"
- Day 5
Argentine Side of Iguazu Falls
Head to the Argentine side early and remember your passport. The border crossing takes about 30 minutes. This side involves more walking but gets you closest to the falls. Start with the Upper Circuit then Lower Circuit and finish at Devil's Throat when it's less crowded. Plan for 4-6 hours to see everything. End your day at the Rafain Churrascaria show to experience Brazilian dance and music.

Return to Rio

7 Day Brazil Itinerary, incl. Rio de Janeiro and Iguazu Falls
Natural wonders of Brazil unfold over 7 days, featuring Rio's Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, and both sides of Iguazu Falls. Stay 3 nights each in Rio and Foz do Iguaçu, visit Bird Park, and enjoy evening entertainment at Rafain Churrascaria.
- Day 1
Rio de Janeiro Arrival
- Day 2
Rio de Janeiro Highlights
Get an early start at 8:00 AM to visit Christ the Redeemer before the crowds arrive. The first cable car up Corcovado Mountain usually has the shortest wait times. Head to Sugarloaf Mountain after lunch when the lighting is perfect for photos. Visit the Selarón Steps after 3:00 PM when there are fewer people. End your day at Maracanã Stadium which is usually quiet in the late afternoon.
- Day 3
Rio to Iguazu Falls
Catch a morning flight to Foz do Iguaçu. It's about a 2-hour flight. Pick a window seat on the right side for possible views of the falls from above. The ride to your hotel takes about 20 minutes. You can save money by staying in town instead of the expensive hotels near the falls since you'll spend most of your time sightseeing anyway.
- Day 4
Brazilian Side of Iguazu
Spend your morning exploring the Brazilian side of the falls. A recent visitor shared: "Start your visit before 9 AM - you'll get the best lighting for photos and avoid the midday heat. The panoramic elevator near Devil's Throat often has long queues by 11 AM." You'll need about 3-4 hours to see everything properly.
- Day 5
Argentine Side & Bird Park
Head to the Argentine side early. Remember your passport. Plan for 5-6 hours of walking on good trails. Visit the Bird Park later in the day when it's cooler and the birds are more active. In the evening, check out the Rafain Churrascaria Show for some Brazilian culture. Book this ahead as it's often full.
- Day 6
Return to Rio
Take a morning flight back to Rio. Try to sit on the left side this time for a different view. You'll have the afternoon free to explore Santa Teresa, a local neighborhood with fewer tourists than the beach areas. Note that many shops close early on Sundays.
- Day 7
Departure
Give yourself at least 3 hours for airport transfer and check-in. Morning traffic can be slow. Most international flights leave in the evening, so you can fit in some shopping at Rio Sul mall on your way to the airport.
7 Days in Brazil, incl. Amazon and Rio de Janeiro
Two distinct Brazilian worlds merge over 7 days: 3 nights in Rio de Janeiro and 3 nights Amazon split between Manaus and Ecopark Jungle Lodge. Visit Christ the Redeemer, Monkey Jungle Reserve, traditional Caboclo villages, and witness the unique 'Meeting of Waters' phenomenon.
- Days 1-2
Manaus & Amazon Gateway
Kick off your trip in Manaus, your entry point to the Amazon. Visit the beautiful 1896 Opera House on your first morning, then explore the busy Municipal Market. Day two brings one of nature's unique shows - the "Meeting of Waters," where the dark Rio Negro runs alongside the sandy-colored Rio Solimões for 4 miles without mixing. Pack light clothes that dry quickly and strong bug spray for your jungle stay.
- Days 2-4
Amazon Jungle Lodge
Stay at an ecolodge on the Rio Negro for a real Amazon experience. Take morning walks to spot wildlife, but bring good hiking boots since the trails get muddy. Try catching piranhas (it's not as hard as you think!) and visit a Caboclo village to see how indigenous communities live. One visitor's highlight: "The night canoe expedition was unforgettable - we spotted several caiman by their glowing red eyes. Our naturalist guide knew exactly where to look."
- Days 4-5
Rio de Janeiro Introduction
Fly to Rio in the morning (book well ahead since Amazon flights are limited). Take the scenic train through Tijuca Forest up to Corcovado Mountain. See Christ the Redeemer early - try to get there by 9 AM for the best city views. Most people are surprised by its actual size - it stands 98 feet tall.
- Days 5-7
Rio de Janeiro Exploration
Use these days to really see Rio. Start at Copacabana Beach in the early morning before the heat kicks in. Check out the artsy Santa Teresa area. Take the first cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain at 8 AM for the best photos. Plan your final dinner at a traditional churrascaria in Ipanema. A recent visitor shared: "The beach kiosks along Copacabana are perfect for a casual lunch - try the fresh coconut water and pão de queijo (cheese bread). Much more authentic than the tourist restaurants."
What people love about 7 day Brazil tours
- Best of Argentina & Brazil
My mom and I went on this trip together and had the best time. We had at least 2-3 nights in each place with a complete mix of free time to explore on our own and guided tours of both Buenos Aires and Rio when we arrived. We had local guides join us alongside our tour leader in every stop that we went to. The hotels were incredible an in perfect locations so you could walk everywhere!
- Jalapão Experience
Great trip, guide was very knowledgeable, professional and courteous.
