      Kathmandu Arrival

      Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport and head to your hotel in Kathmandu. Book a hotel in Thamel district to be close to trekking gear shops and restaurants. Take the afternoon to adjust to the altitude (1,400m) and rest.

After checking into your hotel, take a walk around the lively Thamel neighborhood in the evening. The narrow streets might seem confusing at first but you'll be perfectly safe exploring the area.

      Kathmandu Heritage Sites

      Visit Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) early before crowds gather. One traveler shared: "The morning light on the golden stupas is incredible, but bring small bills for entrance fees as vendors rarely have change."       Chitwan Safari
