- SSB· June 13th, 2022If you require a tour in English, avoid Julia Tours. We were 2 of a total of 4 English speakers on a bus of Spanish speakers that varied from 25-45. The tour guide was bilingual but the English explanation of what we were doing/seeing was a condensed version of the Spanish. On the last 2 days of the tour, there was no guide, only a bus driver who spoke only Spanish! Unless you choose to upgrade the accommodations, be prepared for a hotel that is not centrally located in most of the cities. The tour do not give you much free time but being near restaurants, shopping or other sites not included in the tour would be nice. And speaking of free time, there’s not much of it. Here and there there’s a 2 hour break for lunch so you either choose to eat or shop, not both. Occasionally you’ll have a free afternoon but if you want to remain in the area the city tour ends, it’s up to you to find transportation back to the hotel. As for the tour guides and their knowledge, they’re pretty good. But beware of the visits to where things are made. It’s all a front to get you to buy their products at prices much higher than in the local marketplace and we all know that Julia Tours is receiving a kickback! That’s probably why you have very little time to shop on your own. Lastly, be prepared for very long days. Sometimes you’ll be on a bus up to 7 hours. Sometimes you’ll be walking for the better part of a day. For example, 17,000 steps one day, another day, 14,000 steps. And lots and lots of stairs. Most of the group was 65 years or older and many had a hard time on this tour that was rated “easy”. Just be careful when booking with this, or any company. Call and ask lots of questions. Know how far you’ll travel each day. Make sure the entire tour deals with only one language. You want to have fun and not feel that you’re being controlled and herded around!Show moreTrip date: May 2022
