Leonard· February 24th, 2025We recently booked the 18-day Indochina tour with Realistic Asia, traveling through Bangkok, Siem Reap, and Vietnam (Saigon, Hoi An, and Hanoi) in early February, and it was absolutely amazing getting to know the rich cultures of Southeast Asia! Given that we booked only 3 weeks in advance, we were pleasantly surprised by how smoothly everything went. A special shoutout to our agent, Chris Tran, who was exceptional throughout the entire process. He was always in touch to make sure we were doing well, offering helpful advice on how to spend our free time without ever being pushy. His guidance really enhanced our experience and ensured we made the most of both the planned activities and our downtime. The price for the entire tour was very fair, especially considering the level of service and attention to detail we received. There was also a good balance between activities and free time, which allowed us to explore at our own pace. The activities, especially those with private guides in Thailand and Cambodia, were exceptional. Some experiences, like Halong Bay, had a bit of a mass tourism vibe, but they were still incredibly enjoyable. Even though it felt a bit crowded at times, the natural beauty of these places made it worth it. If you’re looking for a stress-free way to experience Southeast Asia, this is the way to go. You get to see all the major highlights, meet locals and fellow travelers, and enjoy amazing experiences without spending hours researching each location, booking hotels, flights, taxis and tours. The tour guides in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Siem Reap and Luang Prabang were all excellent. The one in Bangkok had a very short time with us but also was not as engaging, though nice enough. We felt more of a tour of Bangkok would have been helpful. Hotels were all great, very very good for what are listed as three star hotels though we were in premium rooms in each. A pity the pool in Bangkok has short hours, closing at 7. Location was ideal in all except Bangkok. Overall excellent value for money. We loved the cultural and historical aspects of the tours, cooking lessons, bike rides, boat rides, visits to traditional villages and to silk production project in Siem Reap. We were super lucky with the weather given the tour was in July. Hot and humid but rain mostly overnight and we were able to make the most of each location. - BDBILL· April 7th, 2024In Total the trip was good in that we were able to see a part of the world that we had never and might never again) see. However there were various things that were surprises to us. The fact that it was our responsibility to check in for flights booked by Tour Radar was a surprise and added a level of stress in the midst of the trip that could have been dealt with by advance communication or by Tourradar offering another element to the package which includes a concierge type service which gets boarding passes (ie could use the in country tour guides). Not all hotels had staff that could communicate effectively (if at all) in English which would have made the first days in a city easier . Finding good restaurants, ATMs, drug stores etc. Some of your guides were helpful in providing a lot of that information when they dropped us off at the hotel. Chang our Bangkok guide did not do that and with th e challenges of hotel staff to communicate , our first day or two in Bangkok was the low point of our tour. Also the next day city tour was poorly done and the length of the tour could have been extended a little so the city tour was more comprehensive. Also I am told Thailand is a beautiful country but we saw nothing of the beauty that might have made Thailand famous. We enjoyed the Hare Residence in Siem Reap and would suggest keeping it in the program.. Also Laos was enjoyable , as was the hotel but the only suggestion would be to add or provide the opportunity for a visit to see one of the elephant reserves near to Luang Prabang. A city tour of Na Noi (and Saigon) would have been good to include. We came early so were able to book our own tours in Ha Noi but feel we really did not see Saigon at all. Overall the trip was good.
