- GSGarrett· January 2nd, 2024The itinerary for the tour was packed with a variety of great things. Do your research! Pick and choose what you want to do and what to skip. Be aware of the massive increase in foreigner pricing for every activity and entrance fee. The weather makes travelling and trekking very challenging. Again, pick and choose what activities best suit your interests. The tour had very nice hotels with breakfast and dinner included. That saved a lot of time, stress, and hassle. All of the hotels were lodges and resorts, away from the noisy, busy city. Our driver always stopped at a market or shop when we asked. This way you can get what you need before going to the somewhat remote hotels. The driver was suitable but did not provide us with any help or suggestions. We got ripped off a few times by spending money we didn't need to. For example, we got taken to the wrong place for the Nine Arch Bridge. We paid a tuk-tuk from the parking lot to bring us to the bridge but we got taken up to a viewpoint where you can barely see the bridge. The tuk-tuk driver said we were in the wrong place to get down to the bridge. Our tour driver and tour vendor both swore that it was impossible to take a tuk-tuk down to the bridge. I provided multiple online sources, maps, travel guides, and blogs all stating how to get down to the bridge. This was all ignored and blown over after another challenging day. We had a very hard time understanding and communicating with our driver. Everyone we met from the hotel cleaners to the fruit stand workers were easier to understand than our driver. We had so many questions and such interest to learn about him and his country/culture. It was impossible to have any meaningful conversation or ask any real questions seeking his advice. Overall, I highly recommend this tour. We are already planning on return to Sri Lanka and seeing the things we previously missed.Show moreTrip date: December 2023
