- Vaiga· November 24th, 2024Positives were that the route is beautiful, the house boat was a great experience and we saw a lot of beautiful places. We though we'd book a tour for comfort as I was travelling with my mum and wanted to feel safe and learn more on a tour, but we feel like the experience was similar to just hiring a taxi when you land. There is a lack of communication or organisation to call it a tour. Our driver even though tried his best to communicate barely spoke any English and we had no guide to help us so all felt a bit silly. We can't therefore recommend it as it currently is to anyone who can't speak the local language. I will note that our driver did get changed last minute in the morning before the start of our trip so maybe the language issue couldn't be helped, but in that case the organiser should have stepped up and offered some communication through out the trip to help smooth this out. I've been on two other tours in India with different groups and this was the least information I've received from the organiser. On the other tours they'd check in daily, provide a clear itinerary for the day and make sure you felt safe. I think the worst part was at Periyar National Park which apparently sells out in advance online and we were stranded there for an extra 3 hours due to the booking issue. If this is the usual process for the park that people book online the organiser should then offer to book the tickets in advance for their customers and ask for an additional payment. We missed our afternoon Kumili village and spice Market time due to this. I think the trip should just be organised better, with clear timings that should be followed properly to make sure everything runs smoothly and feels less manic. I think if you know the language this may be easier, so don't count it out then. It's just not ideal for anyone who's coming from outside of India and expects to get more information from a guided tour. Final note, the hotel we stayed at on the first night Avenue Airport Hotel, felt like a 2 star not a 3 was very dirty and my mum got food poisoning from the breakfast, so would recommend to avoid this hotel. The other hotels were as expected, so no problem after the first one. To conclude I was going to give it 3 stars but the experience of Kerala itself brings it up and I think the review detail is enough for you to judge if the trip is for you or not.Show more
