- Ulrich· January 27th, 2025The tour guide was pleasant company, very experienced, and well organized. The hotel was nice and the lodge was very nice. However, you should be aware that the trip takes you through remote areas in Africa and that food and accommodation cannot always be measured by European standards, no matter what you have paid for the bookingShow more
- Caroline· November 3rd, 2024An absolutely impressive and well-organized trip!Show more
- Eva· August 21st, 2024The positives first: - We were very happy with both Notty, the office staff, and our guide and driver Immanuel. Communication before the trip went smoothly and Immanuel drove us very confidently throughout the week, even on challenging terrain, so that we felt safe with him at all times. On the long journeys we also had the odd good conversation and he was able to provide us with information about some of the sights. - The individual daily destinations were absolutely impressive. Be it the dunes in the Namib Desert, the dead trees of Deadvlei or the animals in Etosha: the highlights of Namibia are united on this tour and while we were probably very lucky to see so many animals, Immanuel can also be praised for knowing the park well and knowing where/how to find animals. - The group size: There were three of us at the start. However, the third person had booked a shorter tour, so there were only two of us afterwards. So we were able to influence the trip a little with our wishes. - It is a black-owned organization, which was important to us so as not to contribute to the imbalance that still exists between the black and white population. What we didn't like so much: - If you look at it on the map, you'll see that the locations are very far apart. As a result, you spend a lot of time in the car during these seven days. You have to be aware of this beforehand. - Camping is not a good idea in Namibia in winter. Or to put it another way: If you want to camp, you should definitely bring your own sleeping bag. The sleeping bags that you can rent from the organizer are not suitable for the night-time temperatures in the desert (for us it dropped to 4°C). We upgraded for the last two nights and are still clarifying how this can be offset against the price of the unused campsites. - We may have just been unlucky, but our trip was quite chaotic as the bank card our guide had been given for expenses during the trip didn't work. As a result, there were regular delays and waiting times because Immanuel had to keep organizing cash. Even at lunch, we had the feeling that they were trying to fob us off with food from the hot food counter at the supermarket in order to make do with the cash that was always in short supply. You can easily eat in cafés or smaller restaurants with the budget you've actually calculated for lunch. That wasn't the problem. At our last lunch, we added the missing ND 60 (approx. €3) ourselves because Immanuel once again didn't have enough cash with him. In retrospect, Discovery handled our criticism very well and appreciatively and promised to pay us around €125 as compensation for the missed dinner and half of the last two nights. Overall, the tour is highly recommended. Stars: Overall: 4 Itinerary: 5 Transportation: 4 Food: 3 Guide: 5 Accomodation: 4 Tour Operator 4Show more
