  • Days 1-3

    Palermo

    Start in Sicily's capital city. Visit Palermo's vibrant markets before 9 AM to experience the authentic local atmosphere and sample street food. Pack a light jacket for Monreale Cathedral, which stays cool inside year-round. Visit the Byzantine mosaics in late afternoon for the best lighting. The panoramic terrace has old narrow steps, so wear shoes with good grip.

    
  • Days 4-6

    Marsala Region

    Drive 2 hours along the coast from Palermo to Marsala. This area is perfect for exploring western Sicily's wine country. Watch the sunset at Stagnone Lagoon's salt pans but bring mosquito spray in summer. If you're planning a Favignana trip, take the first hydrofoil at 9 AM from Marsala port to get the most out of your day.

    
  • Day 7

    Agrigento Valley of Temples

    Set aside your morning for the Valley of Temples. Start early since there's minimal shade and bring lots of water. One visitor shared: "The Temple of Concordia at sunset was incredible, but the midday heat was intense. Definitely take advantage of the shuttle bus service between temples."

    
  • Days 8-9

    Cefalù Coast

    Cefalù blends beach time with medieval sightseeing. Watch your step on the cathedral stairs, especially during dewy mornings. Take the La Rocca climb in late afternoon when it's cooler. It's a steep 45-minute hike but worth it for the views.

    
  • Days 10-11

    Isle of Salina

    Catch the morning ferry from Milazzo to Salina. The trip takes 2.5 hours. Travel light since you'll carry your bags on and off boats. Visit caper farms in early morning before the heat sets in. Try local Malvasia wine at the waterfront restaurants in Santa Marina Salina.

    Taormina & Mount Etna

    Finish your trip in beautiful Taormina. Visit the Greek Theatre early or late to avoid crowds. For Mount Etna trips, wear strong hiking shoes and pack extra layers. The volcano can be 10-15°F cooler than sea level even in summer.
