What people love about Europe Tours in May
- Balkan Experience – seven countries in two weeks - SMALL GROUP
This 2 week tour of the Balkans was one of the best experiences we've had recently. The entire tour was managed very well and we especially thank our main tour guide Milos from Serbia who was exceptional. Milos has the wonderful personality mix of intellect, knowledge, efficiency, warmth and good humour. Nothing was too difficult for him and besides his exceptional driving skills taking us across 7 countries, he is a lovely affable gentleman with great moral standards. It was like we've known him for years and so it was sad saying goodbye in Belgrade. We will definitely use Victor Tours again.
- Semi-Private Balkans Tour; From Athens to Sarajevo or Belgrade
Hey guys it was just perfect! Everything! From organization to beautiful places that we visited. I was all around the world but Albania is something else. Wine, sea, food, local people, history, cities - perfection! The places where we stayed were beautiful and clean and tour guide was lovely, talkative and kind. Recommendation to everybody!

What our customers ask about Europe Tours in May 2025
What are the must-visit destinations in Europe during May?
The fifth month brings ideal conditions to explore Europe's diverse landscapes. Paris sees fewer tourists at Luxembourg Gardens while Amsterdam's tulip fields reach peak bloom. The Swiss Alps offer clear views of snow-capped peaks and Mediterranean cities like Venice and Dubrovnik welcome visitors before the summer rush. Book accommodations like the Paris Ibis la Defense or Central Park Hotel in Trebinje for convenient access to attractions. As one TourRadar reviewer shared: "The May timing was perfect for visiting multiple European highlights - from Alps to Mediterranean - with ideal temperatures and stunning spring scenery."
What is the price range for Europe tours in May?
European tours in May cost between USD 200-350 per day. The 13-day Imperial Cities tour runs USD 3718 (USD 286 per day) while the 14-day Europe Jewel tour averages USD 244 daily. These rates sit about 10-15% below peak summer prices but above winter rates making May a smart choice for budget-conscious travelers who want good weather.
How crowded are major European attractions in May?
May presents an excellent balance between accessibility and crowd levels at major sites. The Colosseum Rome Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and other landmarks see steady traffic but lack the intense summer crowds. Famous spots like Hotel Sacher in Vienna and Berlin's Reichstag Building remain easily accessible. A TourRadar traveler noted: "May was perfect timing - we could visit major sites like the Vatican Museums and Louvre without the overwhelming summer crowds while still enjoying great weather."
What kind of accommodations are recommended for May travel?
The mild weather makes both city center hotels and countryside properties comfortable choices. Consider stays at the Royal Inn 4* in Belgrade (USD 200-300/night) Hotel Massimo d'Azeglio in Tuscany or Alpenrose Hotel in Swiss Alps. According to TourRadar reviews: "Hotels in May offered great value - we could stay at central locations like the Hampton by Hilton Amsterdam without peak season prices plus rooms had good air conditioning for occasional warm days."
What special events and festivals happen in Europe during May?
The cultural calendar fills with notable events across the continent. France hosts both the French Open tennis tournament and Cannes Film Festival while the Netherlands celebrates King's Day with nationwide parties. A TourRadar traveler reported: "Our guide took us to local May festivals in Munich and Vienna which really enhanced the authentic European experience." Tours often include seasonal activities like Rhine Valley wine tastings and Eastern European folk performances.
What's the weather like across different regions of Europe in May?
May temperatures create perfect conditions for exploring. Paris maintains pleasant 20°C (68°F) weather ideal for outdoor cafes and garden visits. Southern cities like Rome and Florence warm to 23°C (73°F) making archaeological sites comfortable to explore. The Swiss Alps stay cool around 15°C (59°F) perfect for hiking and mountain activities. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The weather in May was perfect for sightseeing - not too hot and not too cold especially in cities like Paris and Rome."
